I want to say I'm surprised..... but I'm not. Just a really uncool way to go about it though. I understand the Eagles most likely upped their offer after seeing the Niners and Patriots destroy their opponents last weekend, but the way he is just bolting out of town after saying he was coming back, I don't know, it just seems very uncouth.

I was as shocked as anyone about this. Chip's announcement to Mullens literally came out of nowhere.

Sucks for Oregon, but I hope Chip does well in the NFL.

David Shaw hasn't done too bad at Stanford, either.

    Bellotti worked for Brooks
    Chip worked for Bellotti
    Helfrich worked for Chip

Oregon's track record of successfully hiring from within is pretty hard to argue, isn't it?

I really think it has to do with the success of San Francisco and New England against more conventional teams like Green Bay and Houston. Seattle ALMOST pulled off a huge comeback against Atlanta as well. Seems like the Zone read is the new hotness in the NFL and Chip is the master. I think he'll do well if he can get the right QB.

I bet the Eagles bring Mike Vick back after restructuring his contract, pick up Tebow after he's cut, and Dennis Dixon may even get an invite to OTAs at the very least.

Is Vick good enough at this point? I heard his confidence was shot.

If anybody can get a few years out of Vick, it would be Chip. He still has wheels, he still has a strong arm, and if Chip could make Masoli a decent QB, he can get a year or two out of Vick before Mariota goes to the NFL.

If Taj Boyd leaves, I could see the Eagles drafting him in the 2nd-round. Taj had a final two of Oregon and Clemson when he was a HS recruit.

I think Vick will be awesome with chip. How would you perform if your coach never had faith in you? Im sure chip will tell Vick he is the guy and get him performing well.

Vick is about as well suited for chips offense as any QB in the nfl. Newton might be a better option but those would be the two qbs id fear the most on a Chip Kelly team.

You have to wonder if Chip knows something about the impending NCAA sanctions.

Yes. He is the only person in the program who knows about the 10-year bowl ban.

i think they are gonna do them like necessary roughness, gonna need a walk on 40 year old qb to run the zone read

So has it been announced that Helfrich is the guy? Oregon could be an ideal coaching job for a high profile coach. I'm not 100% sold on Helfrich. He's kind of a wild card since Kelly was essentially the OC.
