Which is why you trade Brogdon before Ant.

Again, if Portland can get a starter quality forward in return for Ant, Portland should consider that.

Yeah I'd take a mediocre 1st for Brogdon now and probably a horrible first at the deadline.

If the only thing we can get for Brogdon is 2nd round picks I'd just keep him though. At that point its worth the possibilities of sign and trades or the Blazers make other moves to open up a role and resign him.

I think a horrible first is probably on the upper end of his value right now, but it's possible a desperate team would give a lottery protected first at the deadline. Of course, like you mentioned, if no teams really need him, we might be looking at 2nd round picks.

Brogdon is a good "final piece" but I feel like the teams that aren't going to the finals all have more flaws than a final piece could fix.

I saw the O-Line article on David Adelman. Was he the one who got fired from his HS coaching gig in Portland? Drove drunk?

Edit: Nevermind I just read the article from 2009. Sounded very suspicious.

    https://www.oregonlive.com/portland/2009/11/judge_rules_in_david_adelman_d.html

Regardless he has done well in the NBA

    https://www.oregonlive.com/nba/2024...tion-with-the-cleveland-cavaliers-report.html

"The Cleveland Cavaliers have requested and received permission to meet with Adelman about their head coaching vacancy, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Adelman is the top assistant to head coach Michael Malone with the Denver Nuggets. The former Jesuit High School and University of Portland star is among the candidates under consideration to replace J.B. Bickerstaff, who was fired last month.

Adelman is already under consideration for the head coach positions with the Los Angeles Lakers and was reportedly a candidate for the head coach position with the Charlotte Hornets, who hired Charles Lee."

He’s who I think we should go after. Not just because of who his dad is. He’s supposed to be one of the best player development coaches in the league and would be great for a young roster. He is highly respected by Jokic, Murray and Porter Jr and is said to have been instrumental in their development.

In typical Portland fashion we won’t get him though.

it probably helps to have ownership that actually cares about basketball as much as cash flow

"Sure, there were a couple 60-plus-point losses mixed in there, but overall Portland was tough most nights."

a quote from Portland Tribune's Blazers specialist Austin White. Frosting the Chauncey cake with his end of season "defending Billups" article.

(the Tribune requires membership to read. i didn't post the link. Somehow Whyachi snuck past the locked gate, then giggled at another edition of "unbiased" Portland sports reporting)

If Lebron is still in LA next year, I can't believe they would offer the job to Adelman. And, if I was Adelman, there is no way in hell I'd take the job. This looks like a train wreck coming in slow motion.

The train has already wrecked. The wreckage just hasn't been discovered yet.

The timing of the Monty firing is interesting.

    1. Front offices usually have target replacements BEFORE firing their coach.

    2. Retreads like Bud et al no longer on market. Even Borrego has the lead in the Cavs job as of today's news.

    3. Newbies like Lee and Redick also have jobs now.

Makes me wonder if Chauncey is in consideration for the new opening in Detroit now.

I haven’t heard anything about Redick officially. Did he get the LA job?

Not officially. Twitter people saying it's a done deal. Same with Borrego in Cleveland.

Scott Brooks, Sam Cassell Jared Dudley and Rondo will be on Redick's coaching staff...Lakers hired Redick and think he'll be the next Spoelstra....Brooks will be lead assistant like he was in Portland.

    Good for Brooks.
I didn't think he was that great of a lead assistant.

It is curious why Billups hasn't filled out his staff yet
