<div class="quote_poster">Quoting philsmith75:</div><div class="quote_post"> (Marvin Williams will be a stud though, not a Darius Miles stud, more like a Shawn Marior like stud.)</div> I'm kinda of skeptical on Marvin Williams because he only played one year in college as a bench guy and he was a virtual unknown in prep ball until much later. UNC was loaded with talent so I wondered how well he could carry a team by himself (kind of my gripe with Dunleavy on Duke versus Adam Morrison on Gonzaga). The potential with Marvin is definitely there. He's got excellent fundamentals from his shooting form to his ability to handle the ball, rebound, block shots. He's got an nba body as well and can flat out fly. I can see some comparrisons drawn up between him and the Matrix or D-Miles. Those two were highly athletic converted power forwards to small forwards and both sort of had to work on their shot ranges. He reminds me of D-Miles for some reason. He's got the face-up shooting and ballhandling skills of a guard, but he's got the rebounding and shot range of most power forwards (very limited). Somebody correct me if I'm wrong about what positions Darius Miles and Shawn Marion played in high school or college. I thought both played power forwards. I like Chris Paul btw. He's definitely a winner and he should have gone #2 overall, I felt. If the Hawks had him they'd be a lot better than they are now probably. pg. Chris Paul sg. Josh Childress sf. Joe Johnson pf. Josh Smith c. Zaur Pachulia sixth man: Al Harrington
The difference between Darius and Marvin is the Grand Canyon with respect to what is between their ears.
Miles has been playing very well, putting 19 pts, 5 rebs with 1.4 steals and 1.6 blocks. I don't know whether it's new coaching or him finally getting matured, but he really became a good player for Blazers. In other hand, if you want to see Williams' potential, Hawks gotta do something about their roster first. I don't know which idiot actually think Johnson can work as PG, but Hawks don't seem to have any kind of ball movement, and until they get a decent PG, who can distribute the ball, they will probably waste shooters they have on the roster...
Hawks would have had a lot better season had they chose Chris Paul... The GM of Hawks needs to use better logic. "Gee... we're packed in the foward spot and just gave a 70 mil contract to a SG who can't play point... lets pick Marvin Williams!"
Well let's just say a Hawks owner got forced out over the whole package to get Joe Johnson from the Suns after he stood in the way of the deal. There was one owner that was refusing to give up those two future first rounders but the rest of the owners wanted to make the deal happen as the Atlanta GM intended. In the end, the rest of the Hawks owners gave up a max contract and two future first round draft picks + Boris Diaw to land Joe Johnson. In this case, the owner that was forced out (Steve Belkin) was probably right for standing up for his convictions. I think Joe Johnson is actually making more than Jrich. That's so ridiculous.
Anyone notice how sweet Boris Diaw is playing? He's silky smooth with the ball and 6'8" too (he was matched up on Yao recently). In the long run, he may be better than Joe Johnson. Nice trade Hawks.
Boris Diaw is awesome, he's a triple double threat every night and is consistent. I would love to have him in place of Dunleavy. Diaw is averaging 10 pts, 5.8 assists, and 6.2 reb, and shooting 50%. All that in 28 mins a game. Hawks just keep making bad mistakes over and over. And yeah, JJ is making more money than JRich. Just sad.
