Okay, so what if we make that trade AND then turn around and deal Aldridge for Amare?

    Paul
    Roy
    Babbitt
    Amare
    Okafor

Would adding Amare fix your fears? I think a Paul/Roy/Amare trio is unstoppable. Just my opinion.

I believe this a lateral move.

Argh, I know you and PtldPlatypus are right and I think that my final offer would have to be Oden and Batum for Paul. I would have to take several shots of Tequilla to dull the pain, but two of the top then players in the league for our back court? You still keep LMA and likely balloon his production? I think it's gotta be on the table and being kicked around.

Still rather do LMA + Batum maybe adding a third team to get it done.

Not if people are concerned about losing an inside presence. I think it balances our team a bit.

You might be right but if we want CP3 NO wouldn't want to trade for Roy and not even sure Oden Batum is enough but there is a chance. I still think CP3 and Roy could play together very well. They would each have the ball some of the time depending on the situation.

Wouldn't the third team want Paul? I don't think any deal for Paul would involve a third team.

Stoudemire is not much of an inside presence. Defensively, he's invisible and on offense, his game consists of face-up jumpers and driving to the basket. Not that that disqualifies him from being very valuable offensively, but it doesn't provide an inside presence anymore than Aldridge does. In fact, I'd say Aldridge offers more inside presence on defense.

I don't know... it just seems like Amare plays in the post more than LMA. You don't think he puts more pressure on the opposing team than Aldridge?

Agreed. We know Roy's deadly when he's not double teamed. CP3 would take away a lot of that pressure away from him. Something Aldridge and Oden couldn't do.

He does, but not as a post or "inside" presence, in my opinion. He puts pressure on defenses the way an Andre Miller or Dwyane Wade do...shooting mid-range jumpers and then going past his defender, attacking the hoop. I don't really think he has much back-to-the-basket game.

We don't have a GM. How can you have forgotten that already?

Let's go back and read the reason for not executing the deal: Shinn wasn't ready to move Paul. It would be equivalent to us moving Roy. It takes time to settle in. It doesn't mean the deal is dead, it means it's delayed.

They essentially agreed on the terms.

I think you are reading far to much into it. I don't think they necessarily agreed in terms and I still think someone like Oden would have to be sent out. I agree it sounds as if it is delayed and not totally off and that we are close, but I think have to offer one last piece mainly because Paul and Okafor for Miller, Pryzbilla, Bayless, and Batum does not work salary wise. The only thing to speed this up or for it to even have another possible shot is Paul demanding for a trade.

Please god let Maxiep's interpretation be right. No really, would mean a lot to a lot of people and besides the people of NOH have nothing to live for anymore, it's really just a mercy killing anyways. Please! PLEASE!

Interesting that he went from not wanting a trade to stating this right around the time we were pushing for that trade sans LMA/Roy/Oden...

I like the emotion you bring to this forum. You give Blazers discussions the tragic appeal of a life or death struggle between good and evil. Especially when discussing Bron/Wade/Bosh to Chicago.

Interesting. Still the proposed failed deal does not work. You have to include Oden or someone.

Edit: Besides, he didn't come out demanding. Just is open to it currently. He will have a better idea later on where the franchise is heading.
