My aunt is from Christchurch and lives there...she's sickened by this as we all are.

The problem to me is the growing need for attention because of social media. We need to take a closer look at our society.

It may be barbaric but I'm starting to lean towards putting these psychos in public square stocks and letting the public abuse them before the trial for a week or so.....(maybe I've watched too many epic period films on Netflix)

I'd rather immobilize them with a feeding tube and shoot them out into space with nobody to talk to and no way for them to end it. Like that glass thing in Superman.

Speaking of the guy running at the guy while holding a credit card machine or whatever.

When the Vegas cop killings happened here years ago a guy with a gun tried to stop who he thought was the shooter. Then the girlfriend snuck up and shot the good guy from behind.

Learned from this that we need to watch our butts if this kind of thing ever happens. I don't carry a gun so I'd probably have been dead anyway.

Yeah, I think it is going to be solitary for the most part though.

Unless they "accidentally" put him in gen pop

Aside from sheer horror, do you know what I saw when I watched that video?
A video game. One eerily similar to the ones children begin playing at young ages in this country and others. First person view, staring down the barrel of a tactical weapon, firing indiscriminately at anything that so much as moves. The resemblance is striking. I’m not suggesting video games are solely to blame or anything, I’m kind of just writing this as I go, but I definitely had sort of an epiphany watching that. Is it a stretch for me to suggest that mowing people down without thinking twice about it, albeit in a virtual setting, could still normalize the thought of doing it for real? I’m not pointing any fingers, just sharing some abstract thoughts I took away from watching that horrendous scene.

I've been saying this for years...the detachment of video game killing is very similar to what these mass shooters do..upgrade their weaponry, acquire lots of ammo and kill everyone for the win......seems like a pretty clear connection to me...add mental illness to the equation and you have shooters who've got a lot of practice at this shit...not a popular slant amongst gamers...I have this conversation with my son all the time.

Mental illness, prescription drug use, virtual normalization of murder, and yes, access to weapons are all things that on their own may not create a monster, but the sum of these parts seem to be a certainty at this point when examining mass shooters.

Video games now are so close to being real they are completely addictive.

I spent 2000 hours playing Battlefield 3 after 9pm every night for a couple of years. It was ruining my life. I didn't even want the Ps3 when my wife gave it to me for Christmas.

The first thought that came to me on hearing of the killings in the Christ Church Mosque.

    Mosque in Christ Church?

I was in Christ Church many years ago, a lovely place it was, as well as the rest of the country. I doubt you could find a Mosque in the whole country then.
    https://heavy.com/news/2019/03/masjid-al-noor-mosque-christchurch-new-zealand/

It will be interesting to get the full story here, but this one maybe too convoluted to actually get the real story.

The back ground of the ex commie Aussie Shooter, coming from a country where guns a difficult to get, going to a country with a very new Muslim population
where guns are easy to get, raises hell among the immigrants.
    Why?

For the purpose of causing revolt over guns in the US???

There is more, but it just reads like all the headlines of era have been cut and bagged for a random draw.

I suspect there is more to this incident than an outback Aussie who slipped free of his meds.

When it comes to something like this, id rather not soend the money to keep him breathing just to study his mental health( the only justifiable reason to let someone like this live).
