Ok, here's the most kick ass present I've ever bought my wife. So good she's asked me to give it to her again this year. Two things to know about her: She's English. The thing she misses most about England is English chocolate (Cadbury's, Turkish Delight, Wine Gums, etc). So what I did was go to a local Cost Plus and buy 52 bars of her favorite English chocolate. (They're really nice--about $1.75-2.50 each.) I then make an Avery Label sheet in Word (the kind that do 30 labels per sheet). On that sheet I've done a quick mail merge so that every label has a date, every Saturday, for a year. I then think for a half hour or so and come up with 52 great memories we've had. I write down one for each label--just a couple keywords will do. I stick one label on each chocolate bar. Now for the next year on every Saturday she has an appointment with chocolate, and a quick reminder of some nice memory we've had. Because the bars are pretty small and the time release nature of it, she never feels compelled to share it with anyone. As much as she loves this gift, I may be still doing it a decade from now every Christmas. Costs about $120 (tops--I put it in a nice box) and a couple of hours, but it's worth it to have her give me that smile every Saturday.
I got my chick some perfume she wanted and I gotta think of something else... Ideas? Hm, I'll probably be getting my dad a copy of Windows 7 and a t-shirt or something. I usually get my mom a giftcard to a shop like JC Penny or Nordstrom and then I just roll around the mall looking around to find something she'll like. I'll probably get my sister a... No idea.
:O Another side benefit of this gift is that throughout the year if you happen to have a fight on a Saturday, you can just say to her, "Have you had your chocolate today?" She goes to get it and reads the note. Awesome at defusing tension.
I'll repeat the question. When did she ever play jazz? To reinforce the point of my question, I'll ask another: Do you consider Kenny G a jazz saxophonist?
I wasn't being sarcastic. I was asking whether or not she ever really played jazz. IMO, she isn't a jazz pianist or vocalist.
