It fucking was his to give.

What is Maliki going to do against our 50,000 troops?

We had the moral high ground, too. Blood and treasure.

Or is Obama just a piss poor negotiator and couldn't convince al maliki to do the right thing? That's no doubt partially the problem.

I missed the part where we annexed Iraq and planted our flag while claiming to be a conquering empire

Maliki not doing the right thing is Obama's responsibility? You act like he's the head hobo at a carboard home convention

So in a nutshell, you favor the US influencing the Iraqi and Syrian political decision making process because we have a bigger army than they do?

    You missed years of occupation?

I find that hard to believe.

There are all sorts of international laws covering the situation. We were within our rights. And it would have meant no ISIS, saved many many lives in the area, and prevented several terrorist attacks throughout the world including within the US.

Because we had an army already there and fought to achieve peace.

    We didn't in Syria.

Imagine if we fought with Assad to take out ISIS, then dealt with Assad?

Peace over there is like alchoholism..one day at a time...we did our job, then the replacements dropped the ball in their own fashion...off the wagon...stop making us the villain...you can take a guy to meetings but it doesn't mean he's not going on a bender next week...it's not like we adopt them for life

Peace in Europe was the same way. Until we occupied Germany for a decade. And we STILL have troops there.

It's not like there wasn't a successful real-world example to emulate.

    Makes no difference.

We spent $1T, at least. Thousands of our own lives. Installed a free and democratic government that could have grown into something stable and peaceful like all the nations we consider good actors.

We had the moral high ground and the legitimate legal right. We had obligations as occupiers, too.

They don't have a choice, get it?

Obama surrendered. HE made the choice to do so.

    The bottom line is:

Bush left Obama with a secure and mostly non-violent (as violent as the US is) Iraq. An ongoing war in Afghanistan.

Obama is leaving Trump war in Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia. Those are all places Obama ordered the bombs to be dropped.

Look up the laws and get back to me.

They're the Geneva Conventions, among others.

    Did you hear?

NBC predicted Clinton would win over 350 electoral votes.

    Boy are they good.

Good and pissed. All that investment down the drain.
