oh please, I'm being respectful, but I do disagree with you. Why are you always so sensitive about the righteousness of your opinion?

Jordan did dominate college football according to just about everyone but you. Like Clowney, teams ran their offense away from him for a reason. His DE spot had a very different set of responsibilities then Clowney's including dropping into coverage (hence the Drop End position title) roughly 60% of the time. The point I was making is that despite your doubts, his play & skills were highly valued. Hell, Kyle Long wasn't even a starter for most of the year and yet he was a 1st rounder too... did he dominate college football?

While on one hand you site you've never claimed to be an expert on college football, you also say that Colt should be dominating if he's hoping to get to the NFL... so you're claiming to know whats important to NFL scouts. Many posters here feel he is dominating in both his blocking and capitalizing on his catching opportunities. They point to various mocks & media types who have him rated very highly. Of course being a TE in one system brings different responsibilities then another, so amount of catches isn't something that scouts are going to look at like the holy grail. If on field production was all important to NFL scouts, Boise State QB Kellen Moore would have gone #1 overall a couple years back instead of going undrafted.

He dropped three passes against Virginia. It was frustrating seeing him drop those easy throws.

Tennessee had no idea that Lyerla wouldn't be playing until they saw Mundt on the field. There is no way they would adjust their game plan. It doesn't take a football wizard to know that the first thing you try to do against Oregon is take away the run. Tennessee was in man coverage because they were stuffing the box, and Mariota picked them apart based on reads at the line. Colt would have had the exact same reads, and hopefully would have caught the ball. If any defensive coordinator in the country is game planning to shut down Colt Lyerla first and foremost, they don't deserve to have their job.

Mundt was laying some nasty stiff arms. It was great to see.

With defense its not always the numbers but the effect a player has on the other teams game plan. Point in case, Dion Jordan. Ngata was like that, too.

Yeah, I'm surprised they haven't used Stanford yet as well.

getting back to how injuries aren't discussed, Stanford suffered some sort of leg/knee injury in the Spring and is still rounding up following some down time. I'm not aware of him playing yet this season so a Redshirt year may be a possibility

I agree with most of the comments. Mark was not at fault. Truth be told, he owes the media and us fans NOTHING in the way of information. He was vague...sure...but, he's allowed to be. Slimebag Quick simply had his little ego hurt. Colt simply needs to shut the F up and man up. He's turning into a whining little sap who thinks he's entitled. I'll cut Colt some slack because he's not as mature as most 20 year olds should be, due to substance abuse, but IF you are offended by someone of authority (coach) you go to that person DIRECTLY, not whine like a little limp-wrist to the media.

The guy acts like he's 14 years old sometimes. Love his ability on the field. Not hurt at all when he leaves for the NFL.

Totally agree, and Colt will get a wakeup call with an NFL coaching staff.
