Both are awful. But sometimes overthrow of a dictator has unforseen consequences. Population sees an opening and rises. We shall see.

Yup..... we overthrew Saddam, we stayed for like 15 years, we helped them establish a government and it STILL went bad.

Case against Prigozhin will be dropped and he will be sent to Belarus, Kremlin spokesperson says

Criminal charges against Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin will be dropped and he will be sent to neighboring Belarus, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"You will ask me what will happen to Prigozhin personally?" Peskov said in a conference call with reporters Saturday. "The criminal case will be dropped against him. He himself will go to Belarus.

Edit: Kremlin says Wagner fighters will return to base and sign contracts with military

What I have read is that he was expecting a lot of regular russian military to join his troops and it just didn't happen.

He was surprised that the Russians regulars didn't fall in line as he expected. Plus he was outnumbered many times over.

So Putin actually blew up his own oil reserves thinking Wagner would get them...sort of like shooting yourself in the foot.

Then he should definitely defect. He sounds like a piece of shit, so no big loss, but if he doesn't leave immediately he's likely dead.

This could have been a trial run by Wagner to gauge the response....a 25k private army apparently shook him up..now they retreat, regroup and make alliances. Putin is in trouble ..this will enable like minded Russians to take sides against Putin and his elites.

I'm not sure if I hope this happens or not... It seems like it would be good to get rid of Putin... But it will probably lead to hundreds of millions of premature deaths...

Please understand anyone who goes for a full-on military coup against Putin will be worse than Putin. Like crandc says maybe a people’s revolution will follow but it will be against someone already used to the violence.

Yup. As much as I would love to see this Russian regime fall, I don't think the owner of Wagner is the dude you want to take over. It's terrifying honestly.

One thing I'm thinking about. Ukraine could do the same thing Prigozhin did; take Rostov with just a small force. I believe the West prohibits this and and knowing this it allows russia to have absolutely all of it's combat ready troops in Ukraine.

Sounds like Putin has ordered Prigozhin's execution but grants his Wagnerite soldiers amnesty.
