That's a collapsed lung. Good Lord. Shouldn't take too long to recover from but that's scary. He might need minor surgery to get air out and relieve pressure I presume.

I think I had this condition after I cracked four ribs in a car accident. Dr. wanted to do a surgery but luckily he talked to another doc who recommended keeping an eye on it through x=rays every couple days and after about ten days they said it was ok.
