Enjoyed the interview. It's funny how as I get older it changes my perspective on these players. CJ is 7 years younger than me. I appreciate him very much as a player and as a person but I can't look up to him or the other players the same way I used to when I was younger
Yeah I remember feeling that for the first time; Jermaine was the first player we had that was younger than me.
Yeah. Jermaine was the first Blazer older than me too. I stood next to him in a department store once. I thought, "this guy could probably tear my arm off and beat me with it like the Toxic Avenger." I wish he had stayed with us. It would have been nice to see him grow up into the player he finally became.
You crazy. If we're talking interviews, both those things make sense. But if we're talking basketball...crazy. I love CJ, don't get me wrong. But my love for players is not necessarily indicative of how good they are as players.
I'm not crazy. I like CJ's game just as much. That's it. We don't have to agree. That's why the forum exists.
Certainly CJ's game is a lot more valuable in today's NBA than it would be even 5 years ago. But both those guys are so elite defensively, and would complement Lillard so much better than CJ... Granted CJ is a blast to watch. Gobert not so much. But how can Giannis be a tossup?
CJ is committed to winning in Portland. That's a quality that makes him pretty much untradable in my opinion. The Greek Freak though if he becomes an MVP candidate, what other player has that kind of game and measurables? He's a one-off.
Greek Freak is far and away a better player than CJ, I'd take him in a heartbeat. Gobert and CJ is the real toss up, depends on whether you want a 20+ scorer or a guy who erases shots.
Greek Freak is not a better offensive player than CJ. Get your mind right on that. Rudy gobert as two to three shots block a game is nothing compared to CJ's 23 ppg.
Conversely, saying that we should have chosen The Greek Freak over CJ is kind of foolish because he came from Greece and there are no hoopers in Greece... He played against mediocre competition and that's the reason why he was drafted so low. Lots of other teams passed on him.
All this comparing centers to CJ is asinine. Would I rather have Gobert than CJ when we have Nurkic? How is this even a conversation?
Woah, GF averages just as many points as CJ, he isn't as good a shooter but his offensive game still puts the ball in the basket at a decent rate (.523) and his defense is worlds better than CJ. I love CJ but GF is the superior player and every GM in the NBA would take him over CJ. Of course that's today, and the draft is 20/20. I'm not upset we picked CJ over either prospect.
GF's free throw rate is a Harden-like .488; does anyone honestly think he'd get that kind of FTr in Portland?
