Cleveland would be a great trading partner IF the Blazers would trade LaMarcus.

If the Blazers lose LA, won't that give them a lot of salary cap space to spend on someone else?

You do realize this isn't just paranoia? Aldridge already asked to be traded once. And the Blazers don't have a bunch of ways to improve and keep this team improving. We had no picks, we have no cap room, we don't have a glut of tradable assets. I see no reason to believe the Blazers do better next season then they did last year after the super hot start. And if the Blazers win 45-50 games and get knocked out in round one, we will almost certainly lose LMA. That's a pretty tough gamble to wager our best player we will improve with limited input. But regardless the moment the Blazers step on the court, no matter the makeup, I'm rooting hard and enjoying every victory. Advocating one move doesn't require giving up ones fandom.

Because the Blazers have been so successful luring free agents in the past?

Playing with Luke Babbit and Raymond Felton with Jared Jeffries as you backup center....yup, LA asked for upgrades..he got them, he's happy and given that it is pure paranoia

The past is just what it says it is and I never understood what it has to do with the current state of Portland basketball.

I love PDX, but we are a small market team, a high tax team, have a small African American population, are a rainy state especially during the season, aren't a nightlife town, and all those reasons make luring free agents difficult, no matter how historic those problems are.

Well, I can name dozens of benefits to living here and my community is pretty ethnically diverse. Clean air, drinkable water, affodable housing but I'm sure LeBron loves the vibes in Akron Ohio back in the rust belt and Kobe loves that orange car exhaust they call air in LA.

Doesn't Portland have more strip clubs per capita than any other big city? That sounds like some decent nightlife to me.

I might compare the Green Bay Packers as a place most folks freeze their nuts off in that's predominantley Northern European in ethnic background but the NFL powerhouse is a pillar of success and lured a lot of african american players to Green Bay

I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying it's not that way now.

Yup, I agree. There's a very vocal minority of blazer fans that want constant trades and roster moves.

Blame it on the instant gratification of delusional proportions.

They'll never be happy. They dont see the finish line, they just want a new toy because the old one was so last night.

Sounds very hipster... They are done with Aldridge because people are starting to like him now.

As a lifelong Packers fan I can tell you emphatically that the team has had very little success with free agent signings. The only notable exceptions being Reginald White and Charles Woodson as guys they were able to somehow convince them to come play. Their recent string of success can be traced directly to Ron Wolf who was all about building through the draft and his protege' Ted Thompson has the same philosophy. Over 90% of their roster was drafted by the Packers or an undrafted free agent coming out of college.

The players are in Green Bay because they were drafted to be there and typically when they are up for their first big free agent deal, they usually go someplace else (Usually either Seattle or Minnesota for some reason).

So in short, No, they don't "lure" a lot of African American players there and almost everybody flees the town at the conclusion of the season.
