I grew up on Eastside... lived in Sellwood, Gresham, SE Portland... then I moved from the Eastside to the bestside... and I will never look back. Some areas on Eastside just scares me... 162nd burnside area has drug related shootings all the time... the whole area between there and gresham died... Joes Freddies etc... packed up and left because of high theft rate... near Foster the is a similar dead zone where everything just went to shit... any new development went out to far side of Gresham or out to Clackamas. Parkrose was a nice area and school district when I was a kid. Now I think I heard it was worst in state. Westside seems to be much more high tech... (can't even find computer stores on east side)... has nicer restaurants etc... Yeah the roads did confuse me at first because they all don't go exactly N/S and E/W like on Eastside... but I figured it out. For someone in tech like me... Westside has a lot more job opportunities. I am very happy to call it home.
