sounds like the makings for fond and shared memories. hope you have crew for the back tack. an extra pair of young eyes would be a blessing, especially on the inside. be safe.

uh, I need more than one extra for that chore. I think I will run inside the QC Islands but outside Vancouver on the return.
If I had hands that wanted to do it, I would but not yet.

Man I'm sorry about your dad....my life literally blinked ...5 doctors told me they'd never seen someone with so little heart function walk on their own two feet into an emergency room..they were shocked I lived...puts the simplest things in life in perspective....just a week ago I had my first cup of coffee in two months..probably what I missed the most...I have to manage this for the rest of my life but I'm going to control it..never want to go through that again

I almost went there when I got out of NTC in San Diego but I told them I was way too claustrophobic to be in a submarine...I don't even like elevators

I have been thinking of one more run to Hawaii. I can do that single handed without a worry. But...
I know it is not like my old days there, it seems very restricted in anchoring. I suppose I don't to do it unless I can get a slip somewhere to call home port while there. I think a winter would due, perhaps even 2019/20. Having the MarAzul there is just to have a place to have call home. It is for me anyway. I am thinking of a little fishing for the kids but perhaps relying on the locals would be better. Grandpaw need not be the guide. What do you think?

With the turbulence and recent spate of natural disasters in Hawaii, I think the timing would be risky for a trip there..volcanic islands are rising and busting up all around there these days...wouldn't want to risk it myself

best call the harbor master in kona for a slip. if i was planning to anchor for an extended period kawaihae north of kona would be my first choice. deep water dock and maintained channel. most interisland freight comes to the west side through the port. protected anchorages inside. a dockside lay could be done in kona at the charter/fuel dock. tied to mooring balls on the bow and stern lines port and starboard to the dock. turning basin big enough to maneuver. need reservations and a 30 day limit. can get the harbor masters number for you if you would like to talk story. i will take grand kids fishing any saturday, sunday or monday. curious , how old?

No, I could barely get up on two skis. But I've seen people water ski on their bare feet.

Geez, docs have warned me that my heart could suddenly stop with no preceding symptoms if I consume too much potassium.

Thank God, you've got your wife, kids and mother.

If you ever need a hand for a week or two, I’m retired........I haven't been on a sailboat for almost 20 years and to say my former skills would be rusty is a serious understatement but I’m always game (some might say gamey)........

If I have missed any of your PM's I apologize. I do always look at any posts that have been flagged and take the appropriate action.

The posts were actually flagged as opposed to pm's like I mentioned. My pet peeve is if a person is banned for a violation and the exact same violation happens 5 or 6 times shortly after the ban then why isn't the punishment more severe? It does no good to ban someone and then just delete the post or the word with no further punishment. At least one of the posts is still up.

Been a stressful summer. Need to start planning for the start of the season meeting with the Blazers. That's always a grind, a delicate dance of begging and demanding swag and events for the forum.

Simplest answer, this forum will always be run as more of a community than just a regular forum.

That means we will work with people instead of trying to find ways to get rid of them.

Permanent bans will always be the very last resort and that is after many conversations privately with the person.

Temporarily banning someone from individual threads is something new that we're trying.

Honestly, the results have been mixed if that is an effective tool.

Because this is a Blazer forum, actually "the" Blazer forum, personal insults in the OT section vs the main forum will be treated differently.
