Pretty simple--when he uses a handle that includes "CNN", he's clearly acting in his capacity as a CNN reporter. If he wanted to tweet personally rather than professionally, he should have a separate twitter handle for personal tweets.

He tweeted facts and nothing more.

He tweeted the facts and ended his tweet with an advertisement to donate to Obama's campaign.

Omit the link to donate.barakobama.com, and his tweet would have been fine.

Maris, that is the very first time you have made a political post that had even a shred of common sense. In fact, it is totally right.

    What gives?

He included the link to show exactly where the breaking news of Obama going to wisconsin came from. It was the only place thus far it had been reported. If the Blazers on their website break a story, and then an ESPN journalist linked to that story to share the breaking news, does it make him a Blazers fan?

...and consumers of news should be able to state the conflict of interest of CNN having an Obama shill following the Ryan campaign.

I do agree with you, though. Dan Rather used to speak at Democratic functions all the time in Texas, yet he never let it impact his professionalism, or damage his career and legacy. :MARIS61:

When this board finds biased personal observations in Oregonian blogs, PapaG defends Canzano and says that blogs and tweets aren't articles. Now, he wants journalistic standards upheld in tweets.

Right. The news source was a site that happened to have the word "donate" in the URL. He simply linked to his source and PapaG was paralyzed in terror.
