I would pay him whatever it took to get him on as an assistant, and maybe as a replacement.

Whatever, I know more basketball than anyone here.
You think Steve Kerr is why the Warriors are winning. Jackson was there through their rebuilding and was fired after a subpar season but left a team that was already primed for greatness.
If you think Stotts is a good coach, you're entitled to have an opinion, even if it has nothing with understanding basketball.
He puts lineups and makes decisions on par with the opinions of people in this forum. I stopped watching the Blazers this year and you guys' credible opinions and basketball knowledge led us to an embarassing season.
So I have zero credibility? A team with two of the best offensive talents in the league, with supporting players that couldn't have been more poorly used, half the season you're rooting for us to lose then we make the playoffs and can't even put up a fight, and you like Stotts because he's like you, very white and knows nothing about basketball

Blatt in his first year in the league had to deal with that fucking Prima-Donna LeBronze. I think it was Messina that when he was an assistant with the Lakers said that Kobe comes to practice in a private plane and then you need to ask him to move his feet on defense...
Blatt would be great with this team, we don't have the same fragile egos he had to deal with in Cleveland and he knows more basketball and reached more success then still-hasn't-reached-.500-in-his-career Stotts would ever get.
But you're ok with this mediocrity, you yourselves don't believe the Blazers could ever win anything so you want Stotts because he's likeable. And I'll give him credit, he coaches a high scoring offense, but he's not a winner, his decision making makes me cringe and I'm really a nobody.
Leonard has underacheieved, almost every player we have has underacheieved, the coach is not accountable for it? I'm not gonna decide for you but I'm saying my opinion and my personal opinion is I want Stotts gone, I don't think we're getting anywhere with him and it's a waste of some very good players. Jackson, Blatt, they're options I personally like but I would be OK with Woophie fucking Goldberg replacing Stotts. If you want to pay my plane ticket I would coach them for free and we wouldn't look as pathetic

    No.

    No.

    No.

    Please no.

    To Skiles.

He's not a winner and the players will absolutely hate him and tune him out in short order.

He's a college coach, ideally. The players don't have to stick with him for more than 4 years.

He stresses defense, which is good, but his offense is unimaginative and doesn't involve all 5 players.

You will not want to watch the guy on TV doing the regular press conferences.

    Just say no.

Although there are better coaches I would get rid of Olshey before I would get rid of Stotts.

With that logic; you like Blatt, because you're from Israel. And you like Jackson, because you're a moron.

This statement right here is what causes people to dismiss your posts. Well, that and pretty much everything else you say.

Not that I actually think this is true, but if it were, then I've never seen a greater argument to trade Damian than this. A player who will only accept 1 coach or that coach's assistant is basically an un-coachable player at that point.

If this team is to have any hope of becoming something else than an also-ran, then it needs to start playing defense. Right now our two best players (Damian and CJ . . . Nurkic needs to play more and do it for a longer period before I put him at number 2) are both minus defenders, which not only sets a terrible tone for the rest of the team, but can also breed contempt between role-players and "stars," If I'm a role guy making 1/3-1/2 what these guys make, but I'm expected to not only be a bystander on offense, but bust my ass on the other end of the court, just so these guys can get their 20 shots, that's a recipe for discontent in the long-run.

Stotts doesn't need to go, calm down everyone. Winning solves everything, when this team comes back and wins the division next year you won't be calling for Stotts head.

Mark Jackson took a shitty Warriors team and turned it into a winning team. That being said there's another coach I can think about who is similar in that regard. That's Jacksons talent, getting teams back on their feet. Same with coach Nate, but at the end of the day I'm not sure either are championship caliber coaches. I believe coach Stotts is a championship caliber coach. A lot of what we see with Terry now is a product of his situation as a coach, what separates good from great coaches is the ability to adapt. Now that he has more options with Nurk we will see how things go. I am optimistic.

TLDR - I think some of you undersell Mark Jacksons coaching abilities, but I agree he is not right for our situation.

I would rather the team focus less on replacing Stotts and more on finding a backup for Nurk with a similar skill set. Stotts gets another year from me just based on the Nurk era.

Uh, he under achieved with a stacked team. He lucked into a team with Curry, Thompson, Green, Barnes.....etc. As soon as he left, the team rose to greatness.
