Nothing builds ego like getting 30 affidavits from player development and coaching staff that enumerate all the reasons why you suck and aren't a good fit with their respective organization.
...Kaepernick is the NFL version of Chase Headley...both had ONE outlier year and aside from that, neither has distinguished themselves since.
