<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'> Jason Collins Has Now Left the Building February 2, 2008, 11:41 pm He never got any love from those who just read the boxscores or those who didn’t appreciate the subtleties of the game, but Jason Collins was thought of by his teammates and coaches as a guy who helped them do what they do. Despite knowing that he was on his way out, Collins remained a true professional, playing his final two games as a Net without complaint. Thank You, Twin - - NetsDaily Blog</div>

It was the first game in a while that I had been to (being out in AZ 8 months out of the year), and hoped that this wasn't a regular thing </div> Ya.Dude looked like he was about to cry,but he held that shit, hard.
The thing I appreciated about Collins was he was willing to take the punishment to his body by taking offensive fouls when Shaq's elbows came swinging around into his face. Or when Collins is willing to step in to take a charge and a knee to the chest. Definitely was willing to take the hits.
I sincerely wish Collins all the best if he is indeed gone. He came up big defensively against the Raptors and many other times in the course of his seven years here. Even if he should have been a bench player, he handled any role given to him, off the bench or starting with the utmost class and effort. Yet he never got any awards or all-NBA defensive team. He had to settle for the respect of his teammates, coaches, and the local media. And finally, instead of being lauded on this forum and others for his professionalism, defensive skills, and humbleness, he was more often than not attacked time and time again. It constantly amazes me how some on this forum can claim to be Net fans and attack (not criticize, the distinction is in the word) people like Jason Collins and Lawrence Frank who do nothing but dedicate themselves to being complete professionals on and off the court. People who dedicate themselves for the good of the team and never give less than 110% effort to win. People who go out of their way to treat people with respect, players, fans, and the media alike. I think it's embarassing quite frankly.

Just because he was a Net doesn't mean I have to act like he didn't suck.
ALSO, Collins has never missed the playoffs here in NJ. We send him to a team that has a zero percent chance of making it. I feel bad..

Collins gave a lot to this franchise and I think later on in his career, he'll be cheered by fans and remembered for all that he did. I think part of the reason collins lost fan support this year was because he was playing major minutes ahead of sean williams and boone at the start of the season. The role he was playing in right now suits him much better.
Jason Collins will likely go down as the most misunderstood player in Nets history. I can't think of any other player in the NBA who made his GM and teammates look better than they actually were, while making himself look worse. He was incredibly selfless, and gave more of himself to his organization than any reasonable person should.
I never liked Collins as a player...he was a detriment to the team these past few seasons offensively and he recieved way to many minutes. Sadly I developed anomosity towards him due to his play, even while recognizing that it wasn't really his fault. He was a backup center in this league and forced into the starting lineup by Frank. In hindsight I should have appreciated his effort more. I appreciate the effort he's giving to this franchise and the class he is showing in knowing his situation. I'm not saying I'm not glad to see him leave as a player...I'm just saying I'm sad to see him leave as one of the few players on this team with strong character and one of the only players who never quits.

I mean, they were trying to clear up cap space, right? And save money? How does trading for Collins help that at all? If you trade Mags, that's an expiring contract. Why wouldn't Memphis wanna do that? It jus doesn't make sense to me.
