I'll be interested to see how he acquires more picks since he made such good use of them before. Time for SPAM.
So you are fine with trading a player that is currently outplaying the other team's player coming back, then our first round lotto pick for 2 first rounders? Is that what you are saying?
Well, it's not really fair to compare Lopez to Asik this season. If you compare Lopez this season to Asik last season, it's more clear where each player is strong and weak. Asik is definitely a much better defender, but right now Lopez has a much better offensive rating. So the question becomes, which do you value more highly? Defense or offense? Plus you have to factor in chemistry, which this team has in spades.
If CJ shows he can play any chance the Blazers deal Mo? Or is that for another thread at a later time?
If the team is in win now mode, trading a vet so a rookie with no pre season or game practice this year can get minutes is bad. Probably wrong though
I value both. Lopez brings some of each and enuf of each to really help our team. His D is light yrs ahead of Hickson who was a PF playing out of position, and his offense is enough so like last night he can hurt a team when they are keying on others. Plus he seems to love it here and be a great team mate, synergy and sum of the parts > the whole is a big part of this teams success
Morey is asking a pie in the sky price for Asik and I think he knows he won't get it. His problem is that the longer he waits the worse what he gets will become. Asik gets paid 15 mil next yr, not many teams will want him at that price next summer, especially if they have to give up anything of value. So for Morey the clock is ticking, he either takes what he can get soon, which will be less than his pie in the sky, or risks losing Asik for Nada.
I completely agree, but Leonard has more perceived value by most Blazers fans, not all, but most. So sending him out for a grizzled vet would not sit well with some. I say do it if it gets you a player that can spell a couple starters for 10-15 minutes a game swinging between a couple of positions.
Asik is getting 12 less mpg than Lopez right now, when Asik has seen the floor he's been really good. Against Memphis a few games ago Houston sat Dwight the entire 4th quarter and Asik shined. From Space City Scoop: Asik’s defense in the low post helped spark a rally in which the Rockets were down by as many as 9 points early in the 4th quarter. He recorded 10 rebounds in 21 minutes, and held Zach Randolph to just 2 points in the 4th quarter.
If we could get Asik without losing key players, Fropez would improve our bench, and our big man rotation would be formidable. But we can't, and other teams will have more to offer. I'm not sure why we keep talking about Asik anyway. Other than, we're obsessed fans and it's what we do. LOL
As good of a fit as Lopez is I think Asik would be even better, and a Lopez+ CJ offer would be tough to beat IMO. Pau Gasol isn't going there, not with the trainwreck that the Lakers were last year lol
Terrance Jones has been showing that he might be that guy for them, one of the reasons they've been hesitant to trade Asik is because the don't have a good center to backup Howard if they give up Asik. In this scenario they get a great backup in Lopez and a nice prospect in CJ
IMO CJ and Lopez is an overpay - I'll pass and frankly the real purpose to adding a C is to beef up the front line with depth, I want to keep Lopez and add a C or PF/C.
Ryan Anderson would be the perfect fit for Houston. He's been Howard's teammate and they were successful already and knows Howard already. He can stretch the defense out, giving Howard room to dominate the paint. NOLA would benefit because Asik works perfectly with Davis. Davis is a face up player, using quickness to get to the rim. He isn't a bruiser down low, so Asik wouldn't get in his way.
Why would they repeat bringing in a Rim protector if they already have a rim protector in Asik coming off the bench?
