I remember last summer, guys thought this forum was dead. There was nothing to talk about regarding the Lakers. Mitch sucks. The team has no chance to win it all. I wouldn't say anyone is a bandwagoner here, Bynum started out like the real deal and when he went down Mitch went out and got us Pau. PJax turned the 2nd unit into real contributors. Kobe went out and won the MVP. Boston is stunningly good, but the Lakers are truly Bynum away from being the best team in the league. Boston's not getting any younger, either. The series isn't over, it's time to see what kind of stuff the Lakers are made of. It ain't over until Hillary sings.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Black Mamba @ Jun 13 2008, 02:40 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>If anyone calls me a band wagoner, F U C K YOU. I'm a realist. You guys gave us one hell of a series and capped it off by coming back from 24 down in game 5 to pretty much slam the door on our championship aspirations. No team has ever come back from 3-1, and I just don't think the Lakers can pull it off now. What happened? Lamar disappeared, Phil didn't make adjustments, etc..we can make excuses, but we were simply outplayed. When you guys had to, you guys played LOCK DOWN defense and scored. You guys hit the big shots, you guys made the big plays, you guys deserved to win. Did I believe we could sweep you guys? No. Did I think it was going to be a piece of cake? No. Did I post the opposite of this? Yes. I was being a fan of my team that I love and will always love. If you would've asked me to be rational, I would've told you this would be a hard fought series and the better team would prevail. Odom has shown his true colors. After coming out strong in game 4, he disappeared at half. One quarter of great basketball doesn't salvage a piece of shit series. Gasol was a non-factor, and Kobe was locked down by Pierce. Again, if you call me a band wagoner, you don't know shit. Congratulations Boston fans, we will see you again this time, next year.</div> i really dunno why u stressing this out so much that u are not a band wagoner. everybody who is longer than 1 week here knows that u are true LA FAN with body and soul. I know thze loss 2night is really hurting us Fans, but u cant even imagine how KObe is feeling about this.... is expect him to be a fuckin beast Sunday.... u guys member what happens when kobe is angry dont u ?
Let me be the first one to say thank you for the congratulations and thank you for telling the truth. And no, you are not a band wagoner, a true realist fan is never a band wagoner. The fans that keep blaming everyone from Kobe to Sasha (and everyone in between), they are the real band wagoners, who know nothing about the game of basketball and are not giving credit where its due. You on the other hand BM, are a true fan. (as well as many others here at S2, like brian, huevon, moo, etc (sorry if I missed your name lol)). As for next year BM, I hope we meet again, just to give your team the opportunity for revenge and actually from now if the teams remain the same (no trades, etc), and Bynum returns, I would favor the Lakers to win it all. But I guess we'll find out. Though the Lakers will be contending for the rings, in the coming 5 to 6 years, winning at least 3 with Kobe at the helm. Better believe it. Thanks again, and congratulations to the Lakers for making it a fun series, and the Lakers fans here at S2 for being sport and fair all the time.

I'm over Odom, completely. He can't handle the pressure of being in the limelight. He couldn't handle being Kobe's go to guy and now he couldn't handle the pressure of the NBA Finals. Sign and trade him for Artest, please. Get his ass off of this team. He has shown his true colors numerous times, yet we all fell for him after we acquired Gasol. Looks like the Odom post-Gasol is still the same as Odom pre-Gasol...worthless when it counts.</div> I'd take Maggette too :]
CelticKing is a pretty classy poster. Congrats on going up 3-1, but it ain't over until it's over. You guys still have one more game left to win. Good luck!
Watch the Lakers get next two because of biased officiating :] I do want a game 7, I don't know if it's possible. Winning two straight is going to be hard, like Kobe said..we've got to take it one game at a time. I think Kobe comes out with a fire next game and doesn't let us lose at home. After being able to think this loss out and shit today, I think we'll see a game 6.
I'm calling reverse jinx on this thread. I refuse to address it until the Celtics are in possession of the trophy.

If the Celtics end up winning the trophy at least KG will finally get his ring and also my boy, Powe will get a ring. I'd don't think many of us ever anticipated the Lakers to even be in the Finals this season and when you look back at what they've accomplished this season and the future potential of this squad we're in a great position to compete for the next decade. The bottom line is the players on the Celtics squad has been hungrier than ours and have been a lot more consistent in their effort. Lakers have only played great for two quarters in the entire series. Our guys just have to build off this experience and come out with some fury next year regardless of how this series turns out.
You guys are acting as if the series is over. It ain't over yet. Lakers can still come back with MVP on the team. It's unlikely, but anything can happen.

Whatever God wants. God gets. You never know. Lakers could be the one taking the championship. But you never really know.
One game at a time. It's probably over. But if the Lakers play good defense and create offense off of defense, they can win three games in a row against the Celtics. If Kobe pulls this off, he is as great as Mike. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Voodoo Child @ Jun 13 2008, 04:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I'm a fan of NBA players and not NBA teams. Personally, I think it's, well, not neccesarilly stupid, but something close to that to actually get behind and be loyal to an NBA team. I don't want to start an argument on that, but with the money, the commercialism, the lack of enthusiam from the fans in the lower bowls, and the lack of loyaly from players, I never thought the NBA could even touch the NCAA, and I still don't, especially after the whole reff scandal. So with that said, I entetered this series sort of rooting for Boston, simply because I really wanted to see Garnett and Allen win titles, specifically Garnett. It's crazy that a player who is arguably the best power forward to play the game (maybe you could say it's Duncan, but it's either him, KG, McHale, Malone, or Barkley without a doubt), has never won a ring, and I was really rooting for him to get that ring as a person. On the other end of the perspective, I feel like Kobe has the chance to go down as the greatest player who ever played the game (although as Moo2k4 and I were talking about on AIM, his durability will play a large role in that, because as one of the first high school players in the league, he's been in the league just as long as say, Ray Allen, so his body and performance could diminish quicker than we think), so I wanted to see Kobe win a title without Shaq to cement his legacy for the people like me who have objectively seen him as one of the greatest ever, if not the greatest, and those who, like me, think this year should have been his third or fourth MVP season. So either way, as a fan of players and not teams, I had a positive way to spin this series, and while I don't feel it's quite as over (never sleep on a team led by Kobe), I'm very happy for Garnett, very happy. I'm from the generation that started not watching but being a diehard of basketball right before the lockout, so Garnett entered the league right when I started watching intently and has been in it until now, so this is really a long time coming for general fans like me. Although, you have to ask yourself, if this was in February/March'ish, and I asked you, could the Lakers win three straight games, one at home and two on the road, against good competition, the answer from most people would be, "Hell yeah! It'll be tough if the competition's good, but this is arguably the best team in basketball. Of course they'll be able to win three games in a row, against anybody." So I wouldn't ditch hope as easily as a lot of Laker fans seem to be doing.</div> This coming from a former Grizzlies' fan. I am a fan of good NBA basketball players, teams, and games.
