Khabib says he was offered to fight Nate Diaz (or GSP?!) at this event but passed because of Ramadan.

Part of the real story here goes back to last year when McGregor had great resentment that he was promoting both Jose Aldo fights so much harder than Aldo was.
The rationale from the UFC side was that McGregor was far more effective than Aldo at promoting, but McGregor felt Aldo not having to do as much tiring promotional work that would keep him from gym time was an advantage. While McGregor won the fight, it was not a secret he wasn't happy with Aldo not having anywhere near the media obligations he had, and that Aldo was benefitting by not wanting to promote.

Then, there was a big UFC press conference with all the fighters, where McGregor stole the show, but midway through, Aldo left to fly back to Brazil to attend a wedding. McGregor had made it clear he'd missed many social occasions to help promote his fights and this was the big press conference event of the year and Aldo, for his biggest fight, was given permission to leave early.

Conor's already done more to promote this fight than ten press conferences.

IMO they both have valid points. Connor should be able to concentrate on his fighting a bit more, especially coming off his first UFC loss. But on the other hand, he gets paid so much because he can promote a fight... if he wants to concentrate mostly on training and winning, he can get the same salary as Demetrious Johnson.

The UFC has promotional gold in Connor but they also have a history of using up fighters and burning them when they or the fighter don't see eye to eye (See Tito Ortiz, Frank Shamrock, Randy Couture, GSP... to an extent)

cooler heads should prevail, but this is connor and dana at work here... so who knows.

This is turning into a serious ego check for Dana and Zo.

I suspect Rogan is cutting it close here.

Conor blasting DFW is awesome. I don't see any way that the UFC sticks to their word and pulls Conor from this card without looking horrible in the process.

I also don't see UFC 200 being nearly as profitable, even with Jones/Cormier headliner or a GSP return.

The fanfare conor gets is truly incredible. Hes not as good of a fighter as gsp or jones, but his charisma is absolutely amazing that people are glued to him.

    Good for them.

Ariel was right-- Nate wants it, Conor wants it, the fans want it--why not do it?

Now we can go back to talking about how little sense the fight makes.

It seems Conor's tweet cannot be verified. Reporters saying nothing has changed. Could be a ploy by McGregor.

It is a ploy. Dana said his tweet is false.

So Conor's playing chess when we're playing checkers, but the UFC is playing what, backgammon? I'm confused by all of this.

Actually I think the UFC is folding up the board and putting it away.
