Yes, I admit my mistake. I should have said 'mom and pop shops' not 'mom and pop groceries'. My bad.

Now, will you admit that you changed your argument from (paraphrasing) 'the gummint did this to hurt small businesses' to 'the gummint should have done more to hurt big businesses'?

I think you know there is more to infectious diseases than air filtration.

Did i say to hurt small businesses? Ever?

i think they did what they thought was the eoght thing to do for al businesses until it hit their stocks and wallets and then drew a line.
Im not sure that is saying the intent was to hurt small businesses as much as it is saying they did what they did for the good but stopped short the moment it hit thier wallet?

if that is what you mean, then i fully admit it.
Otherwise I'm not quite following you?

Isnt a mask a filtration system? Is there more to diseases than a mask?

I have no clue what diseases an air filtration system can stop.
However i know all air filtration systems are rated for such things at various levels and it wouldn't surprise me if an airline ceo knows what those ratings are on their planes.

Sorry. It just seemed like you had a point of view and weren't interested in constructively engaging further...

I'll remove that part of the post. My mistake.

    I kinda think you did:

Closing small businesses was financially motivated, you said.

Hard to see how that doesn't mean hurting small businesses, unless you think that they would be helped financially by being closed?

But there is no evidence that they closed down all businesses and later said 'oops, Walmart & Target, you can open back up now, but everyone else stays closed'.

How can you say that "the closures were all financially motivated" and also "i think they did what they thought was the eoght thing to do for al businesses"?

    Please reconcile those two statements.

If you cough directly in my face, no air filtration system in the world is going to prevent me from being exposed to whatever you are coughing out, unless we are standing in a wind tunnel or maybe on the wing of an airborne plane.

If that's how it reads then thats my error.

It was not about punishing small businesses as much as making sure big business isnt affected so their wallets aren't affected.

maybe better for me to say some of the businesses left open were more financially motivated vs following science.
    Does that read better?

well thats your opinion. Never gonna be prove either way really.
I dont think mandates were nefarious as much as some of the lack of mandates were likely, at least partially, financially motivated.

Ok. I think we can agree on that - if there were no financial considerations, the lockdowns would have been much stronger and much longer.
