This is the US. We're discussing people refusing vaccines in the US. And even in the US, minorities avoiding the vaccines are understood, to a point. The hostility is aimed at people who should know better, but don't. Generally white people. People who are perpetuating misinformation and taking our attention away from helping those very same US minorities as well as the other countries you speak of.

But if we can't get our own house in order, why would those countries listen to us?

So yes, the people who are preventing that are dumb fucks. Abso-fucking-lutely.

actually there are many posters in these conversations that are outside the US....that's a common misconception around here.....we have English French, Aussie and Kiwi members as well as Serbs and Croatians, Germans etc........hence the topic is "global" pandemic.....many countries outside the US got the first vaccines much later than we did only we were throwing them away because so many people were not getting them early on. Now it's available to most countries I believe

 

Of course you're correct. I'm just saying what people here are referring to are those in the US who are wasting the great opportunity we have, and helping to exasperate the situation worldwide.

I honestly am starting to not think case numbers mean shit. The numbers we should be concerned about it is number of people being hospitalized and put on respirators. Vaccinated/boostered people are getting it, showing no symptoms and are back to normal life 5 days later. This is why the CDC changed their recommendations an the NBA just adopted the new 5 day rule. Soon everybody will have it, plan on it.

I'm in Mexico right now and I can feel the wave coming here. The resort is short staffed and stressed, we hear people coughing all over and there are tons of "Covid trays" outside of rooms. We know these are Covid trays as one in our party tested positive and instantly got a tray for room deliveries. Kind of scary once we realized what they are because they are everywhere here. Out of our group of 13 the only person to test positive was the only person not boostered (he also only had the J&J), we have been very lax in our group and even sharing items so that should tell you something about vax. I suspect I have had it as I've been night sweating but that's all and it's over now, I tested negative on an antigen so I might not of had a significant viral load to show up. Most people are going home today, a few of us are continuing on to San Miguel, and one of us is stuck here quarantining. The good news on the quarantine is that they do not have to retest if they don't show symptoms but it will be a very boring 6 days for him
