    Then why the mask mandate?

The county has deemed that your vaccination status is irrelevant to their mask mandates.

I would guess because it's simpler than finding the assholes who aren't vaccinated.

The assholes in this situation are Gavin Newsom, London Breed and Eric Garcetti.

Looks like it's up to the event operator to determine when and where it's enforced.

The mandate is to make it easier for event operators to enforce the policy and to give them the backup of the police.

So if the event operators thought this was a problem I would support them making these people mask.

If that meant calling the police and 86ing them, I'd support that too.

But that didn't happen. Because nobody knew. Because they weren't in a large group of people.

    Nothing burger.

No, I believe they are vaccinated, so they wouldn't be included.

Says he took it off for a brief second. I have no reason not to believe him.

That's because you have a clearly skewed and distorted perspective, based on your posts on this issue, as is blatantly obvious to everyone here.

Yes, that's entirely correct. Skewed toward supporting scientific evidence rather than political hatchet jobs.

It's not like Newsom doesn't have a history of making poor personal choices.

Glad you agree that Garcetti and Newsom's mask mandate for the vaccinated has no scientific basis.

If you could somehow easily know that people weren't vaccinated and hold them accountable, then I would agree.

However, I think the mandate is the simplest solution while trampling on the fewest rights. So while it's not technically necessary, I do understand why it's logically necessary for some municipalities.

The omicron subvariant is more contagious, but vaccinated people are less likely to spread it, study finds

    KEY POINTS
    • Danish scientists found the BA.2 subvariant, which has rapidly become dominant in Denmark, spread more easily across all groups regardless of sex, age, household size and vaccination status.
    • However, only unvaccinated people demonstrated higher transmissibility of BA.2 compared to the BA.1 omicron strain, which could be due to their higher viral load.
    • The probability for spreading within a household was 39% for BA.2 versus 29% for BA.1, the study found

We should probably have an outrage thread about Newsom not wearing a mask. Missed opportunity.
