And fwiw, my doc told me that at my age the pneumonia shots were nearly as important as the flu shot.

Yes it was a serious question. McDonald's contributes to more deaths than this virus in this country. 600 thousand deaths a year give or take.

What is essential about this place?

I don't think drive through service is safe from spreading this anyway. You're still touching something someone else touched, gloves or not.

And for every hamburger eaten at Burger King, Mac's, Inn and Out represent an 1/2 acre of the Brazilian Rain Forest Cut down.

There is 1 cubic square foot of carbon released into the atmosphere for every time Sly jerks off. The two aren’t related in any way, but it is indeed a fact. Do the math.

1 cubic foot per inch? Seems low.

That sounds implausible but I don't know.

the problem is that particular model assumes "full social distancing" till June 1, and with trump and fox news and right wing assholes pushing really hard to end just about all the effective measures, it's really doubtful that model survives trump's near term actions

that model also assumes over 61,000 deaths in the US by August 4. three times what we have now

    https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america

there very well could be a glimmer at the end of the tunnel, but the tunnel is based upon assumptions, and the past 2 months of federal incompetence and willful mismanagement suggest that tunnel will get much longer than it needs to be

    ********************************************************

in other news, remember that questionable theory that somehow, the virus swept thru California and especially the Bay Area last year, building up herd immunity? It was an attempt to explain California's good Covid numbers as something other than the early and strict measures California took

it seemed to have a little credibility because the author/promoter of the theory was a senior fellow at Stanford. Turns out, he's a member of the Hoover institute, which is a right-wing enclave at the university

more than that is he is a very right-wing military historian and has no medical expertise or training. He has said, on fox news, that the D's have "weaponized Covid in order to push a radical agenda. Wouldn't be surprised if a few weeks ago he too thought it was a hoax. He was a big supporter of the Iraq way and is a zealous fan of trump:

more than that: "Hanson is a supporter of Donald Trump, authoring a 2019 book The Case for Trump.[20] Trump praised the book.[20] In the book, Hanson defends Trump's insults and incendiary language as "uncouth authenticity", and praises Trump for "an uncanny ability to troll and create hysteria among his media and political critics."[20] According to Washington Post book critic Carlos Lozada, the book "focuses less on the case for Trump than on the case against everyone else," in particular attacking Hillary Clinton"

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_Davis_Hanson

all of that doesn't mean he can't be correct about something, but it does mean there needs to be a lot of skepticism directed at anything he says that essentially excuses trump's failures while dismissing actions taken by California's "liberal' leadership. He's a right wing zealot

but more that that is the theory just doesn't make any fucking sense considering what we know about the virus

and yeah, I know...complaining about right wing sources by posting a left wing source, but this guy makes an effective argument:

I assume you referring to obesity/heart issues per McDonalds?...if so, I wouldn't surprise me...and that goes for other burger/fast food franchises. combined, I probably don't eat from fast food places more than 2-3 times a year.

And yeah, I suppose it's possible that a fast food employee could transmit the virus, though I have not heard of any such cases.

it looks like a bad theory to me....unless of course you ignore everything we've learned about the virus

I mean, why the fuck would it be "like the flu" in December and 40 times more deadly in March?

conveniently, this theory tends to excuse trump's failures while dismissing the value of the actions taken by the liberal leadership in California
