I swear I saw that 0.7% from a different much more reputable source than him. But yeah, hed needs to stop spreading conjecture. Its irresponsible given his position.

Told to stay home, suspected coronavirus patient attended event with Dartmouth students

BOSTON — When an employee of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire showed signs of possible coronavirus last week, a medical worker who had examined him told him to avoid contact with others, pending further tests. Instead, he went to a mixer at a crowded music venue.

Three days later, he was confirmed as the state’s first coronavirus case.

And now a second case has been confirmed — a “close contact” of the patient’s — raising new questions about what should happen when suspected coronavirus patients ignore requests to self-quarantine.

Don't even like Trump, but I think this is the type of stuff that causes his defenders to be like, "witch hunt!!" and ignore people's legitimate complaints. Cause he actually didn't say what people are claiming that he said and running with it... He says enough things that aren't true that we don't need to make stuff up...

    This is what Trump said,

“So you can’t put them down in the category — the overall population — in terms of this corona-flu, or virus, you have thousands or even hundreds of thousands of people that get better, just by sitting around — and even going to work — some of them go to work. But they get better.”

    Corona-flu?!?

You have hundreds of thousands of people that get better by going to work.?!?

    Stupid.

Yeah, I don't see how that's somehow twisting his words.

Yes, but people are saying he said, "You should go to work". He didn't say that. So you want to run off and say he's got his numbers wrong which he normally does, or his semantics for the naming convention was off ok. It seems like saying he's telling sick people they should go to work might be the lie here not the other way around... Cannot believe I'm on here defending Trump. It's a cold day...

I can not stress this enough, the coronavirus is not about you. It's not about how sick you might get, it's not how tough you are, or how great of an immune system you have, or how you've never had the flu. It's not about you.

It's about giving a fuck about your family, friends, neighbors, and fellow Americans not to spread the virus to the elderly and medically fragile.

Trump has always suffered from blabberitis. He picks up bits and pieces of things people tell him and distributes them randomly, as the disconnected neurons in his brain happen to fire off, without any thought as to overall message.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Trump's words aren't being twisted, except by an extreme desire by some to play technicalities. Technically he never told people to go to work with the Coronavirus. But he certainly encouraged that behavior by claiming that lots of people are getting better just going to work. That's a distinction without a difference.

It's a huge distinction and a huge difference. He didn't encourage it he said it happens and like with the most virus' it's more than likely true that someone somewhere has gotten it and went about their day and gotten better, acknowledging that isn't encouraging going and getting others sick.
People are literally saying he said to go to work because it fits their narrative. He didn't say that. I didn't hear his entire interview because I don't really care what he has to say about the subject, but there is a difference in the two.

Again, "You have hundreds of thousands of people that get better by going to work."

While you may argue that he's not directly telling people to go to work he did say you can get better if you go to work. That is very dangerous and will only cause the virus to spread further.

Again, it's not about you, it's about not spreading it to others.

So, what was the context of that statement? What question was he answering? Was someone asking how people should behave if they have symptoms? Or was he talking about something else entirely?

It's really unfortunate that in our hyper-partisan political environment today that so much effort is spent on playing "gotcha" instead of trying to work together towards solutions. Trump is NEVER going to be able to speak on any topic without screwing something up. He's also NEVER going to be able to do anything without making it political with some claim about his wonderful management of the issue or how the Democrats and "fake" news outlets are just trying to make him look bad. It's a waste of time debating it. It's just a normal condition that is going to last until he's out of office. That said, I don't interpret him as encouraging people to go to work; he was just trying to say most people get better without medical intervention. He said it stupidly, and it can be misinterpreted and will be, but that's just situation normal.
