And that's the problem. Most people can get better without being hospitalized. But if you think you might be sick call your doctor and get tested. That's how we stop the spread by finding out who has it. Having the president say stupid shit is only hurting us.

Maybe all the Covid-19 infected people should just be hired by Trump to work in the white-house with him, so they can get better. Leadership.

My view is that you're creating your own narrative, that Trump is being unfairly misquoted, against the spirit of what he said. It seems fairly clear that he was encouraging people to live their lives as normal and go to work even if they have the disease, by claiming that lots of people just get better automatically while doing those things--sitting around, going to work.

The message as to what to do if you have symptoms is a bit confused right now. From what I've read (and do your own research for crying out loud) it was that if you have traveled or come into contact with someone who had traveled to an area where the disease was active, then you should contact your doctor's office to discuss your symptoms and what to do. Now that cases of community-spread virus are cropping up in some areas, including Oregon, the message seems to be that if you have symptoms such as fever and a cough, call your doctor. This is especially true for people under 5, over 60, and/or those who have chronic respiratory or heart conditions. Otherwise, stay home. COVID-19 doesn't typically include sinus issues so if everyone who has sniffles demands to talk to their doctor, it's really going to gum up the works.

So our views are that the other one is creating the narrative they want. This conversations going to go places! Like in the we can agree to disagree box.

So the preamble to the question begins at 22:54, and the specific question was "We have a report today of a global death rate of 3.4%, and a report today that the Olympics could be delayed: your reaction to that?" and he begins by stating that based on conversations he has had with other knowledgeable people, there are thousands of people who contract the virus and recover very rapidly without ever seeing a doctor, having very mild symptoms if not no symptoms at all, and as a result, those people are not being included in the mortality and morbidity statistics.

At no point does he say this is advisable, or that this is a wise response to the pandemic. He is simply stating that such people exist, and that their existence is excluded from official figures.

But again, people hear what they want to hear.

There's nothing "normal" about Trump...never has been.

Chances are, he was talking about the size of his inauguration penis.

I was the first and still only person in this thread to post the exact quote. To label that I'm only hearing what I want to hear is not accurate or fair.

When you asked for context I quickly posted the entire interview. So again, I'm not hearing only what I want to hear.

If you listen to trump and take his advice on anything you need the coronavirus injected straight into your veins.

You posted a portion of the exact quote, and then interpreted his quote as advice rather than as a statement of fact. That is where you're hearing what you want to hear.

No. Many of you were having the debate of whether or not Trump told people to go to work. I posted exactly what he said. It feels like you're moving the goalposts to support your opinion that I'm only hearing what I want to hear.

My posting the exact quote actually helped your argument but I'm still allowed to have the opinion that what he said was stupid.

How can Trump claim there are "1000s of people who've had the virus and got well" when there's only been a 100 or so cases in the US?

I talked to my boss (me) and suggested that all employees (me) work from home until this thing passes. So pretty much like every day.
