Define "next few months". I'm guessing more like a year before we will see anything that works.

 

No, I don't. Unless you define the vaccine as approved by Trump and therefor more qualified than one approved by Fauci.

 

I believe a vaccine will be available by December. Not available for everybody, but available for "high risk" people. So we shall see.

 

Trump said today if you don't count blue states response to Corona virus has been great.

1. Most deaths over the summer were in red states, in large part due to refusal to wear masks and socially distance.

2. Most of the highest population states are blue states so would make logical sense they have more cases.

3. Both red and blue states are part of the same country. Presidents are supposed to be president of the country, not exclude big chunks of it.

Listen even if it was developed TODAY! It would not be available to high risk patients for over 3 months. But that isn't even the thing Trump is saying. He is saying "IT WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE NEXT 2-3 MONTHS!"

 

Exactly how does the President of The United States get away with saying "If you take the BLUE states out".

maybe one will, but it won't have gone thru the entire process of phase 3 trials, efficacy testing, and the 6-8 week waiting period to gauge side effects. I saw the former head of the CDC say that on TV tonight. He said the only way to get even a small inventory to high risk people before Christmas was by the white house ordering significant short cuts to the normal trials, testing, control groups, efficacy studies, & side effect studies.

he pointed to the clusterfuck about HCL as an example of the dangers of rushed or cancelled science, but that the impact of a flawed vaccine could do incalculable damage. For instance he mentioned how important it was to gauge the level and duration of vaccine conveyed immunity. Immunity that is only conveyed for one or two months after the booster is nearly useless, but we wouldn't know that if we don't gauge for those one or two months. Guess what...that puts it into next year

there are also serious concerns that if people take a bad or ineffective vaccine, they might not be able to take a much better vaccine for months after the first one. That's another unknown that will get buried in the rush
