We were out in Newport Beach today to do a final outdoor meal probably for a few months in So Cal. Went to Balboa Island to drive around and peep some of the christmas lights (they do them really nice) from the car, holy shit, they were doing some kind of huge gathering/seemed like a Christmas Pub Crawl or some shit, everyone dressed up, golf carts all lit up and decorated driving around. It was crowded at the end of the main street.

Which has had constant travel to and from China throughout... With far greater population density than every American city.

Sars didn't last 20 years....I was in Taipei for 8 months during SARS...what killed SARS was public acceptance of safety measures during that pandemic....and bleaching the islands surfaces pretty much.....Taiwanese citizens did not water down the seriousness of SARS like our president did....it'll fade by April...some people will get the sniffles.....when SARS happened a lot of first responders lost their lives....one doctor infected fled to Japan and was caught there....it was not an easy battle by any stretch...here, almost a year after the fact we're still at ground zero and dealing with anti maskers and anti vaccine lobbies......Taiwan's leaders respected their science and medical experts....Trump insulted ours. millions of his followers...(cultists) have joined in the FAKE pandemic chant ....our govt dumbed down a huge segment of the population and still does.
Teachers in Taiwan are highly respected.....as is education. They have had national health insurance for decades as well.....funded by a 6% sales tax. We have homeless people in the streets without sanitation or health care access. It's pretty much a clear example of the difference between Social Democracy and Capitalism at all costs greed....one protects the entitled and the other protects the entire country

Covid has mutated and people have gotten covid more than once....the after effects may be worse than the original fever and infection according to several studies. We're probably up to 19 or 20 mutations of the virus so far although it does seem to mutate slowly

 

The USA population has about three times as many people that are overweight vs Taiwan.

Many covid studies going on now. Most if not all studies agree the more overweight you are, the more likely you will need to be treated in a hospital, and dieing from complications caused by covid.

 

There only about 4 mutations of the flu. And we can not get rid of it with yearly flu vaccine shots.
