Governor Ron Desantis has said no. Other governors, like California’s Gavin Newsome, have taken a more strict approach. Despite the major differences, the case numbers are similar.

“If you look at the mortality rate per 100,000, it’s essentially a dead heat,” said Dr. Victor Clarr, a professor of economics at Florida Gulf Coast University.

We’re looking at figures in that way (per 100,000) to take population differences into account between Florida and California.

Ah, but is missing is population density in the problem spots - where Florida has a population density of 5707 people per sq/mile in Broward county - while LA county (problem spot) has a population density of 7009 people per sq/mile - but if you actually remove all the national forest portion of LA county which is almost 1/2 of the county size - the population density is actually at over 12,000 per sq/mile

That being said, I was surprised to find out that they had so many players vaccinated. I honestly assumed a bunch of these guys already had been vaccinated.

UCD and I both got our first shots through The Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde weeks ago (and going for #2 this week). That event was super-smooth and quick. Very well run. And minimal effects for either of us.
