CDC at start of pandemic, knowing next to nothing about this new coronavirus, puts out general advice that’s effective against most viruses: wash your hands, avoid crowds and maintain some separation from people who could infect you. N-95 masks are effective but in short supply and needed for healthcare workers. Cloth masks can’t stop viruses because they’re so small so we’re not recommending them.

CDC after some months of research learns that Covid is mostly spread through airborne viruses and that they are often combined in larger droplets and floating microscopic snot particles. They put out an advisory that wearing masks indoors can reduce spread.

Dumb-fucks: “But they told us masks don’t work! What a bunch of pussies!”

CDC learns that different masks made out of different materials block different sized particles. N-95 masks are still in short supply so they advise wearing two masks made out of different materials in crowded indoor spaces.

Dumb-fucks: “Now they want us to wear two masks! What a bunch of pussies.”

The virus is abating last spring and early summer. Community spread is down. CDC advises that vaccinated folks can stop wearing masks.

Dumb-fucks: About time. No one will know if I’m vaccinated or not. I’m not wearing a mask!

Delta variant is beginning to spread and infection rates are up. New studies show that even vaccinated folks can get infected and spread the new variant. Vaccinated people are still largely protected from serious illness, but CDC recommends everyone wearing masks to help limit spread.

On one hand republicans work hard to limit votes to tilt the elections in their favor, on the other hand they work hard to keep their people volnurable to death with low vaccination rates, giving that I'll Goten advantage away.

This is why China will kick our ass. They have kids locked in rooms looking at screens all day learning.

 

They have made up their mind... Masks limit the spread significantly.

When there is reduced risk of spread masks are not as necessary.

A few months ago when they got rid of Mask mandates and social distancing, nothing really happened.

I'm sure they help minimally, but not as much as people think they are unless everyone is in N95s all the time.
