Better hope so....the next best option might be the single wing.

I was looking at this guy yesterday, his ESPN profile says he also plays defensive tackle?!

I'm still guessing Mahalak will be the starter next year.

...and the 68th best overall prospect regardless of position. The original article you posted was from May & of course lots can change during a year for kids at that age. Travis has not only had another year to learn about playing the position from his HS coaches, but as a top prospect he's been attending all sorts of elite camps where he's been coached up by college and pro coaches. His rise in the rivals rankings is largely a reflection of how much he's shined next to other top prospects in those camp settings.

My guess is that it will be 5th year Senior Lockie who emerges as next year's starter, but having Waller in the mix as an early enrollee should help make it a great competition for the spot. I really like having a good running threat at QB so I'm hoping for the best from him.

Stomp, did they bring in a stud last year to groom for the job? Would Jake rodruigez have been better than lockie next year? What's your projection for waller?

The last class featured Morgan Mahalak who many think will win the QB job next fall. He features a great arm & solid size and athleticism. The future is very bright

Travis will need a year but this kid has confidence and class that beams from him! I expect him to be a Duck on the level of a Pryor for the Buckeyes. Travis has a big time arm. He was also one of the best dunkers in hoops and has a 44 foot triple jump. This kid is an athlete!

Would Helfrich keep running the same type of attack with MM gone? I mean, is this his offense or was he just the steward for Kelly's, and now has a chance to tweak it with a new QB? Have the ducks been recruiting the skill players to go around whoever's next?

Well, Royce and Nelson are true freshman. Tyner is only a Junior. Most of our guys are actually pretty young.

Honestly we have SOOOOOO many weapons for next year our QB could be average and we could still win the Pac! Royce, Tyner, Marshall, James, Addison, Carrington, Stanford, Bayless, Mundt, Nelson and two deep on the O line with Johnstone, Crosby and Hunt holding it down up front! Dare I say a QB with freshman down field throwing confidence issues could easily run a spin off of the triple option with the backs we have. Oh and Frosty ran that at Nebraska as a QB. Throw in the TE's and Tazr's and watch out! That said..... after watching Waller and Mahalak, I don't think throwing down field will be a fear!

I think our D could even be better next year with the emergence of Canton and Manu!

Helfrich was the OC and called the plays the last couple seasons under Kelly. He was the one who first discovered Marcus and then was his position coach, so he developed him more then any other. This is his offense and things are only ramping up
