Trade everyone you can for draft picks. Tank for 4 or 5 years. And yes, that would mean trading Lillard. It would be cruel to put him through that.
It is easy to say yes if it works out like it looks like it will with them. But the odds on it working are ultimately around 10%. So no. They just got lucky so great for them. We aren't lucky.
Absolutely, but only if Olshey is NOT the one leading it. In fact, if it's to be a TRUE Philly-style rebuild, we need HINKIE!
Where do I sign up... I don’t think it’s cruel watching young players develop. It gives you hope for greatness whether it happens or not... better than the alternative of making the playoffs and knowing this team has no chance... not only against Warriors or Rockets, but they can’t even win 1 game against Pelicans?! Pathetic
Those cities also have the benefit of being places free agents would actually want to go to after the rebuild looks like it's working, we don't.
Bear in mind that our current GM took Zach and Caleb over Donovan Mitchell and either Kyle Kuzma or Jordan Bell. And yes, he's not the only one, but it's still a fuck-up. (And I say that as someone who thinks Zach is going to be good.)
Around the same. Fans (by and large, not this forum specifically) like to root for teams that get to the playoffs even if they can't get passed the 2nd round.
It's easy to say yes, because I want to win a championship instead of just being 'good' every year - but there is no way I could sit through 4-5 seasons of straight trash (and Philly fans couldn't either - that arena was a morgue).
Worst case scenario: the Suns/Kings of the past couple of years. That would be tough. Nets don't count because they unloaded all their high picks.
Free agents want to win. They will go to any city if they think there is a strong chance at a championship.
We'd have to get a gm like Chauncy Billups then that could maybe actually convince decent players to come here.
You have to scout ahead in high school and even middle school. Tanking at the wrong time would really suck
