Let's take a look at this.

Last year the West All-Stars were

    (Starters)
    Paul
    Kobe
    Blake Griffin
    Howard
    Durant

    (Reserves)
    Aldridge
    Duncan
    Harden
    David Lee
    Tony Parker
    Randolph
    Westbrook

So look at that list, the starters are going to be exactly the same (unless one is injured.)

Looking at the reserves, I don't think Randolph or Lee are locks at this point.

    Aldridge
    Duncan
    Harden
    Westbrook

These guys are all locks. I think you can include Love and Curry to that list. So we have:

    Paul
    Kobe
    Durant
    Griffin
    Howard
    Aldridge
    Duncan
    Harden
    Westbrook
    Love
    Curry

That leaves one spot. One. Who gets it?

The agents and shoe reps would never allow that to happen. The players would play.

If we have the best record, it's gotta be Lillard.

I think Roy made the All-Star game that year primarily because of our unexpected success. He was garnering quite a bit of All-star buzz during and after our 13-game win streak in December that season. We were expected to be one of the worst teams in the West that year, but we were several games above 500 and looked like we might make the playoffs, leading up to the All-Star game.

This year, we are exceeding all expectations once again. So I guess Lillard does have a shot, but with all the other bigger names and more established players, it'll be tough.

We're winning as a team. If LA and Lillard make the team, great. If not, we'll keep on playing.

I don't care about the ASG; I care about the playoffs.

I agree Max. It's nice to see the guys get the nod because it validates their hard work, but I care much more about getting wins and getting deep into the playoffs.

I hope they both get snubbed. They'll be pissed off and it will give them time to rest up and get ready for the final stretch of the season. The AS game is stupid anyway.

Even if Dame doesn't make the All-Star game, he'll be on the Rookie/Sophomore squad for sure, as well as one or more other events as well.

I would actually love this scenario. Then we could go on a 40 game win streak and Aldridge could lock MVP, rings all around.

Lillard not making it would not be a snub. The west is loaded with PG's

agreed. He's not having a better season than Parker or Westbrook, so if they make it ahead of him it's not a slight. If a Rubio makes it ahead of him, it could be argued a slight or a snub.

But as awesome as the last two game winners have been, he's still shooting poor from 2 this year, and his defense (while improved) is still nothing spectacular. But than again, nor is Westbrooks or Hardens, and they're all but guaranteed AS spots.

At least Laker fans aren't voting in Steve Nash.

Have you seen Lillard's numbers compared to Westbrook? Westbrook is just as poor from the field as Lillard. Lillard is outperforming Westbrook. Same goes with Parker.

    Westbrook vs Lillard vs Parker

    TS% - Lillard 56.6%, Westbrook 50.5%, Parker 55.7%

    PER - Lillard 19.9, Westbrook 20.3, Parker 19.9

    eFG% - 49.1%, Westbrook 45%, Parker 53%

    WS - Lillard 3.7, Westbrook 1.7, Parker 2.3

    OWS - Lillard 3.3, Westbrook 0.6, Parker 1.5

    DWS - Lillard 0.4, Westbrook 1.2, Parker 0.8

    PPG - Lillard 20.8, Westbrook 21.5, Parker 17.5

    Assists - Lillard 6.3, Westbrook 6.7, Parker 6.1

    Steals - Lillard 0.9, Westbrook 1.9, Parker 0.4

Best record - Killard 1, Westbrook 2, and Parker 3

So as long as Portland stays above SAS and OKC, it's a no brainer who the best PG is.

Westbrook, though, has a history of shooting a decent % from the floor, and is coming off an injury. I'll give him a pass for a while on his (current) poor shooting %

Do you give Kobe a pass too?

It's not what a player is capable of. It's based on current production. Also, if Dame was getting Westbrook love, he would be getting to the line more often. That would increase his numbers as well

Kobe has played something like 6 games. He's also shooting over 42%, and progressing nicely. If he continues averaging 13 points and shooting 43% by the time he's reached 20+ games, it might be comparable.

that might be true, but you just said "current production", not "capable of".

So you think Kobe is deserving?

Has everything to do what we are talking about. Killard has outperformed Parker and Westbrook. He also is on a team that has the best record in the league; which he has the highest win share than either players on getting there.

You gave Westbrook an excuse because of his injury, yet you won't use that same excuse for Kobe.

Outside of eFG/TS% (both impacted by Lillard's high 3PA) and win shares, how exactly has Lillard outperformed Westbrook? Seems like Westbrook has more points, assists and steals, and a higher PER.
