<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Clif25:</div><div class="quote_post">My whole problem with this whole thing, is that Garry Saint Jean is still the GM. Why is Garry Saint Jean still the GM? I can only think that the Warriors management is very dumb(Chris Cohan and whomever) to not see that Garry has done absolutely nothing with this team. But make progress then go back 3 years. </div> Amen to that.
The reason why St is still the GM is this... 1. He still has 1 more year left on his contract 2. Cohan is a tight wad, if he fires St now, he will still have to pay St, plus he will have to pay the other GM replacing him 3. Cohan does not care about winning or else he would fire St and get a GM that can turn things around for us. He should have hired West. Look what he has done for the Grizz.
I don't think Cohan even is in the office or at the games. When the deal with Arenas went down, Cohan didn't even look at him while Rowell did all the talking.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllNet:</div><div class="quote_post">As I've already stated before, the Warriors had the chance to re-sign Gil by paying him big money next off-season, he agreed to take the MLE in the off-season only if they paid him big time money the year after, seems like a fair request to me.</div> I don't know if this is legal or not. This kinda sounds like the Minnesota/Joe Smith under the table kind of deal. Anyways, if Gil wasn't after the big payday (like he was saying in an interview on KNBR) then he had offers to go to Denver (young promising team) and LAC (Gil's from LA); offers which were better than what GSW can give to Gil.
It isn't an under the table deal- it's just an agreement between two individuals. Gilbert simply wanted the assurance that even if he didn't do that well or he got injured this season, he'd still get a big contract the season after. Given these conditions, he'd sign a $4.5 mil contract w/ GS.
