So if the Raptors frontload an offer to him, and it eats up all our cap space this summer, you'd still sign Batum? That means we come away with nothing, we have holes at point guard and center, and no money to fill them. I would rather let him go than pay him 15 million next season, and that would clear another 5 million in cap space, so we could sigh someone like Dragic AND another forward.

Not surprising. This team desires the playoffs, nothing more. Decent NBA players get them to where they want to go

If we go this rout I'd try to trade up for MKG.

I see Barnes as a Danny Granger clone in the NBA, I'd pass

Why would you pass on a Danny Granger clone? Danny Granger is better than Batum and would easily be our 2nd best player.

Also, Barnes would be cheap for the next four years.

Everyone on CMN were all in agreement: Hire Mike Malone.

It might be smart to go this route, but only if Beal isn't available. We need a closer. We need a scorer. If it's true that the Raptors are planning on fucking with our cap space, we should really think about covering our ass.

If we went this rout I'd try to trade up for MKG but would definitely throw the most we could at Eric Gordon.

    But I still prefer a Beal/Marshall draft.

I really like a Beal/Marshall draft too. I'm not convinced Beal will drop that far though. MKG worries me. Jeff Green was another small forward that everyone said was an "intangibles" guy. I think Gordon is a pipe dream. I don't see the new owner in NOR letting their only star player go for nothing.

If Granger is better than Batum it's not by much, and When Granger was Batum's age, he was obviously worse than Batum at the same age. Barnes would most likely have the same developmental grace period, and I'd pass on that.

Barnes and Granger are volume shooters who I like to call chuckers (Crawford), I will always pass on chuckers

Can anyone tell more about Mike Malone? Why is he considered top candidate?

Can't tell you anything but he is widely regarded around NBA circles as one of the top assistant coaches in the NBA. I don't really no why though.....Not to say he shouldn't be considered a top candidate

As far as I can tell he has coached under Mike Brown, Don Cheney, Monty Williams and Mark Jackson. Not exactly the greatest coaching tutors to learn from.

I like Collison a lot more than Hill. The Pacers traded for him but didn't change their half-court offense at all to play to his strengths.

On Courtside it seemed like everyone is in agreement that Dragic (or Lowrey if the Rockets change their minds) is the logical target however.

The guys on CSMN are idiots...or just blatant homers...trade for Noah or Joe Johnson? Doubt you could get both of them...and even if you could you would be horrendously capped out on a team that is...I guess a 6th-7th-8th seed if everyone stays healthy? You still don't have a PG...and you used up all your cap space and draft picks to get those 2 guys...even worse (luxury tax land) if you matched a $10/$11 mil contract for Batum....

Joe Johnson is 31 yrs old and has one of THE worst contracts in the NBA, owed $20+ mil each of the next 4 years.....

Noah is Owed $11-$14 mil over the next 4 years....

Add in Aldridge and possibly Batum....What a disaster....

Those guys are idiots for even bringing crap like that up...niether one of those guys is worth the loss of cap space, let alone the draft pick (or multiple!) in this draft that it would take to get them.....

Welll 1st, you would have to trade for Collison, meaning you would have to give up a draft pick or players or both.....Where as George Hill is a restricted FA meaning you could pick him up WITHOUT having to give up the precious few assets you have left...That means a lot...

I like George Hill's size and scoring ability better....and unlike those idiots on CSMN...this team BADLY needs more scorers...

INDY has $10mil owed to West, $13mil to Granger and will have to resign both Hibbert and Hill...Chances are an aggressive offer to Hill and they let him go, b\c Hibbert is going to command a big chunk of money ($10mil +?)...Obviously they like Hill better or they wouldn't be offering up Collison...of course they would love to take advantage of POR if they were stupid enough to offer the #6 pick for him.....

Nothing like speculating wildly to create a non-situation to be upset with the team about.

Did they not mention Collison as a player that mgmt has interest in? They did....

They also mentioned they would have to trade for him....

You are not going to get him for Babbitt and Nolan Smith now are you?

So are you going to deal a draft pick? multiple? How about Elliot Williams? Maybe Wes Matthews? Seriosuly, they are going to want something for him, and it isn't going to be peanuts....

This is the same POR team that essentially traded Miller, Rudy, Koponen and the rights to draft Faried for Ray "fatman" Felton....and you have high expectations of them making a good trade now?
