Didn't they use the TE plus cash to get Phx's first round pick (rudy) and James Jones?

Yep, that TE was the only reason either of those guys ended up in Portland.

Hell, no. The Blazers should fire that crappy KP and hire Mixum! Then the team would not be stuck with such crappy ass players as Roy, Aldridge, Rodriguez, Fernandez, Oden, Bayless and Batum! They'd have Tyrus Thomas and Adam Morrison and would trade them for Vince Carter, who would be thrilled to be on such a great team!

    Too bad you're not.

Your whole worn-out schtick is so dishonest and juvenile it's amazing anyone takes it seriously.

As a point of correction, if you're under the cap by more than the amount of the MLE you don't receive it.

Yes, they said if we take James Jones and give us the TE, we could have the 1st rounder. Tom Penn's arrival paid immediate dividends.

Hey Mixum, do you want to make a bet that the Blazers make the playoffs? I'll give you two to one odds. If the Blazers miss the playoffs, I will pay you $40, if the Blazers make the playoffs you owe me $20. Let me know.

Pretty sure you get the insurance kicker if the player sits out 41 or more games (more than half the season). Since Ruffin has already passed that threshold, I think we're OK.

We actually only get the mid-level if we're over the cap, and we're not expected to be this offseason. Part of the reason why I still think it was a mistake to not trade RLEC when we had the chance. Essentially, we'll be about $6 million under the cap by letting his contract fall off the books, but we won't get the MLE. If we would have traded RLEC, we probably would have gotten the MLE, which will be around $5.8 million. That's a net gain of about $200,000. Not really that much of a difference.

On the other hand, actually being under the cap gives you the flexibility to make trades to bring back more salary than you send out. You can't do that with the MLE.

I guess I'll have to reserve my full judgment on not trading RLEC until this offseason. If KP makes a major move at that time, letting RLEC expire might look like a good move.

If Rocketeer read the same article on ESPN I did then he isn't talking about this offseason, he's talking about right now. We never used the MLE this past offseason so we still have it to offer to fill a hole going down the stretch. Like if Joe Smith was to be bought out by the Thunder, we could offer him the full MLE to come and give us some depth up front.

I think the only people who take him seriously are the moderators who find his schtick "cute".
