From some fly-by-night medical center called Johns Hopkins: Now who should we believe? Johns Hopikins or Rachel Maddow and Chuck Shumer? "The United States was ranked the best-prepared country in the world to handle a pandemic in late 2019 by the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) and the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security (JHCHS) -- an assessment seemingly at odds with claims by Democrats that the Trump administration left the country vulnerable to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak."
Millions could die and hospitals will be totally overwhelmed if America ends the coronavirus lockdown early, says Johns Hopkins pandemic expert as he leads outcry at Trump's suggestion that the US could 'open for business' within DAYS Tom Inglesby tweeted his fears after the president said he will reconsider the nation's social distancing policy within a matter of days He tweeted a thread aimed at 'anyone advising the end of social distancing' 'COVID would spread widely, rapidly, terribly, could kill potentially millions in the yr ahead with huge social and economic impact across the country' he said Trump said he will reconsider the nation's social distancing policy within days He's indicated he supports ending distancing when the 15 day mark arrives 'America will, again, and soon, be open for business. Very soon,' he said Monday President Trump complained about the caution brought by health care professionals, saying he told his team they would close the 'entire world' https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...s-die-Donald-Trump-lifts-lockdowns-early.html
Well, it's been proven over and over again that we can't believe trump.Preparedness is only one part of the equation but the most important part is the response time and that's where this administration has failed led by trump and his "it will just go away in a short time".
Yeah, I remember that post but then he explained in a not too much later post. I could see what was going on for him so I'll presume others could as well.
One minor correction, Trump was given 6 months to report how the $500 Billion was spent. Of course, by then it's too late to take it back when it's spent in paying back companies that helped Trump politically. Basically it was "Here's a few bucks, Trump, $500 Billion in few bucks, that you can spend on whatever willy nilly thing pops into your silly little head.
the trump administration has refused to comply with dozens of legitimate subpoenas. There's not any reason at all to believe they would comply with that provision.
I want to see a link for that and judge what it is they are talking about because I have little clue what "best prepared" means in that statement but obviously, if they are talking about supplies and infrastructure, then the more critical component is a plan to utilize supplies and infrastructure, followed by a competent execution of the plan the trump administration probably had little to do with inventory. But they were responsible for planning and utilization thru intelligent and timely mobilization...and they have fucked that up every step of the way. If they hadn't, we wouldn't be the worst nation in the industrialized world in terms of testing. Putting people in charge who hate government, don't believe in it's missions, and deny science at every turn is a prescription for the scale of disaster we are likely headed for to be fair, it looks like most nations have failed the same tests that we have failed. But we could have done better
S. Korea's numbers are considerably better than everyone else's, considering they were among the earliest to be infected.
It's not looking good...but I was noticing that chart and that the # of people in the US that have been tested (1707) was as of March 8th...as far as I can tell as of now about 200,000 have been tested.
Testing more by itself doesn't make the disease go away. You also have to act on the results of the test. Not clear we are succeeding at that either. barfo
That's a big issue. By not jumping on this immediately and getting people tested we have no idea how many are truly infected and are carrying the disease and the numbers are just now being exposed for how serious it is here as tests are finally starting to be administered and all trump wants to do is blame past administrations for lack of preparedness. The fucking idiot has been in office for 3 1/2 years and did nothing but cutback on important programs to pay for his fucking wall and other entitlements for his rich buddies.
Yeah, and the bad thing is that from what I understand you can be walking around and spreading it without knowing it and not yet showing any symptoms.
Can't nuke them, they're our friends and besides they're also not China. I'd suggest nuking N. Korea as an acceptable substitute but they're good buddies with Trump what with exchanging love letters and all.
