We can't have a bench player making $17.5M a year. The cap is going up but it's not skyrocketing like this, if you're paying all your rotation players $17.5M a year you must have $200M cap, $94M isn't close.
I am starting to hate this new TV money. With the amount of money it takes to compete with offers from other teams it is going to be impossible to keep guys who are going for their second contracts (think CJ) without going into the luxury tax area. Also, teams used to be able to add a significant rotation player with the MLE. That isn't happening again. It is still at 5 or 6 million a year. That is good for a borderline rotation player now if that.
It's true. It's debatable. I stated he's better - that was definitive and it really shouldn't have been stated that way. He is and he isn't. There's nothing significant that separates them, though. I'd rather invest in the younger known than the older unknown, though. I was a big Turner fan when he came out of college, and even a couple years after when we were rumored to maybe be interested. But he's been a disappointment, thus far.
Shiiiit... I'd tell one of our Blazers to catch one of the falling hairs from LeBron's hairline. Clone THAT MF.
Let me out it this way.... I'm glad the players are getting theirs rather than just the owners. I'm glad baseball and basketball players get a significant slice of ALL the entertainment dollars they produce. They have the skills. They work their butts off. They deserve it. Now I still believe that labour is also represented by the amount of people who fail as well,. But these players perform rare skills that few other can. It sickens me to see the NFLPA literally gives away the players bargaining rights of 13 billion dollar pie because this nation would lose its mind without a year of football.
The new normal will take hold and in a few years I doubt we'll even remember what an old contract looked like. Until then these new contracts are going to create real disparities where talent and money aren't exactly lined up the way they should be (Like Steph Curry making 12 million next year and Pau Gasol (likely) making 50% more than that)
Crabbe is a passive beta for the most part just like Meyers. If it doesn't make sense to keep him I trust NO.
The only way I'd keep him at this price would be if we were promised by 76ers to get Noel/Okafor for him later on in S&T. Makes no sense to have a back up player at $17M a year.
Two guys I hope Portland keep is Crabbe and Harkless. I want the team to improve but I hope they can without renouncing these two. Crabbe is absolutely smooth. And his shooting is becoming more and more consistent and more importantly reliable. Which is what teams like New Jersey are seeing and have become interested. But one of the strengths of Portland last year was the drove of wings they had. More specifically wings above 6'4" that could could score and play D. They have a lot them. Evan I think can only help although pricey. I just hope they can stay strong in this area and stay deep at 2,3 and 4. This was key in their advancement.
What? shiiit mang, that was yesterday! Today Turner is already better than Iguodala. What are we feeding this guy? he just keeps getting better and better.
