Not that I'm disappointed to have Crabbe back, but I think it was a bad idea to match that offer sheet - too expensive for a player of his abilities and role. Hopefully he comes into the season and blows people away so we can reap a bounty by trading him quickly.
Only if he surpasses CJ...in which case we trade CJ. We just can't have that much money tied up in Dame/CJ/Crabbe - one of the three will have to be traded.
Boston already owns rights to swap picks with them this season and has their 1st rounder next season.
Yeah hope so. It's a bit strange that Dame hasn't acknowledged Crabbe's contract at all yet. With as active as he is on social media, I would have expected a congratulations at least (Like CJ did). I know Frazier is Dame's guy, but he'll congratulate Frazier and not Crabbe??
They weren't sitting together at the summer league game yesterday either. I thought that was a tad odd. Emphasize tad.
They were, but there were people between them. Dame/CJ/Tim on one side and a couple of people with Crabbe on the other side. It's just odd. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Dame is a bit miffed that Crabbe is now the second highest paid player on the team. Maybe the contract has gotten into Crabbe's head? Who knows. It's just odd.
In the end, we locked up Crabbe for 4 more which means we pay him what...less than 80 mil to be a Blazer for 7 years...I just guessed at his rookie total being lazy, but if he's a core guy for 7 years and you avg his pay...it's less of a hit than you think collectively
That's just the nature of the rookie scale contract. Crabbe wasn't a core guy for two of his first three years though. Either way, I'm stoked to have him back. Been bummed as I was preparing for him to be gone since I thought there was no way it was gonna be matched. Glad it got matched though, even if it manages to hamstring the team in the future....
