This wouldnt' be a JO scenario unless we are trading for Rudy Gay. If we are trading for Griffin or Cousins or another big in their prime not an over the prime one time all star who didn't really deserve it then that would be a JO scenario.
Yeah, but I was quoting and responding to VG's thoughts on Vonleh. Your right though. I totally missed DMC. I would do that.
And at the other end of the spectrum, people need to get off Turner's nuts. It's just one game and he did everything else well.
Ahh, opinion then. To me the key on that scenario is trading a player with an unknown ceiling that is super young and has the body to become an all star. That to me is a scary thing to do no matter the return. ESPECIALLY on a team so young like this. IF we were the clippers, yes, trade. they need ot win now and Vonleh wouldn't help them enough this year and they don't have several more years like us, but us? It would be a terribly bad move in my opinion unless we net the likes of a DMC. DMC still has upside.
Griffin or Cousins could easily leave after a year or two if we were to trade for either, whereas Vonleh is here for the next 6 years if we want to keep him here. Even if we dealt him for one of those guys, it could easily become a JO situation if the trade target subsequently bolts.
Another great point. Though If we did a trade, I dont see players wanting to up and leave this team in a year or two. Not with the leader and chemistry we have going on.
Depends on the guy. Some star power forwards are too mentally fragile to share the spotlight with a true alpha like Dame.
I said this in another thread the other day. I truly believe Turner/Harkless/Aminu/Crab are all going to average career lows in a lot of categories this season in my opinion. They are all so interchangeable.......I believe Coach Stotts is going to plug those guys in and yank em out depending on the opponents. We might see these guys get 15 pts one night and 2 the next. Hope they can all handle that. At least nobody on here will freak out and say they are all star material on Friday and D-League material on Sunday.
Before this season I called Crabbe the only overpaid player on the roster. He certainly did not look overpaid last night. More please!
I think I was Crabbes biggest supporter last year. I actually wanted him to start over CJ and thought that CJ could've been MIP and 6th man of the year. Crabbe was actually really good at penetrating and getting a floater, or a mid range shot last year. If CJ can be our manu, and Crabbe can be our Danny green... dame is way better than Parker ever was. Now we just need a Duncan
I think we all get that it's just one game, but it continues a trend we saw in preseason. It's not about the raw numbers, it's about the confidence, scoring in a variety of ways, and doing so without hesitation. The hard work is starting to pay off. And, I'm not sure what early season games you're thinking of from last season, but Vonleh didn't score in double figures until the 46th game of the year in late January. And, that included 35 games as a starter. So, it's not like he didn't have opportunities. Last year, he averaged 1.3 ppg in October, 3.1 ppg in Novemember and 3.4 ppg in December. So yeah, 11 points in the first game of the season is definitely an improvement over the way he started last year. BNM
Sorry, my bad. You didn't mention Crabbe, only Vonleh in your post. So, that's who I thought you were talking about. BNM
