Somebody at work asked me, "What do you guys call African Americans in England?" I replied, "Uhh, English?"
Not taking anything, just pointing out that categories can get silly at times. I'm awfully white - but nazis, old and "neo", say I'm not, because I'm Jewish. Doesn't matter if I have pale skin & blue eyes. I once thought Rudy Fernandez might be Jewish but he referred to his family joining him for "Christmas" - a Jew would have said "the holidays". So much for my Jewdar. Personally I'm inclined to let folks describe themselves as they wish, so if a Portuguese wants to say he's Hispanic, I have no problem.
If the standard for being black is that your ancestors came from Africa then we're all black. And my penis feels bigger just typing that.
Charlize Theron is African-American! Theron was born in Benoni, Transvaal Province, South Africa, the only child of Gerda Jacoba Aletta (née Maritz; born 27 January 1953) and Charles Jacobus Theron (11/27/1947—6/21/1991).[1] Her mother is of German descent and her father was of Occitan and Dutch ancestry; Theron is descended from early Huguenot settlers, and Boer War figure Daniel Theron was her great-grandfather's brother.[2] "Theron" is an Occitan surname (originally spelled Théron) pronounced in Afrikaans as "Tronn", although she has said that the way it is pronounced in South Africa is "Thrown".[3] She changed the pronunciation when she moved to the U.S.
She's always been a fave of mine. Did you happen to see The Italian Job (remake)? She was hot in that. I think they destroyed about 70 Mini Coopers in that movie.
BeerBoy you are food at posting pics of the honeys. Do me a favor, I don't like blonds, I'm more of a Stacey Dash kinda guy. Hook a brother up with some Stacey pics!
I hear ya and was really just messing with you. I agree the categories can get silly too. For instance I don't categorize myself as "African-American". If others want to, that's fine with me. But to me, I'm just Black. Short, simple, sweet as can be.
