Since you are a ref how did you feel about some of the calls in the wizards game? I felt like both teams couldve had a lot to complain about, but your perspectives going to be better than mine when it comes to officiating.
I hate these new rules. Last night's game was unwatchable. There's not point to having defenders anymore. Nurk has been neutered. And even more concerning is that this is apparently what the league and teams/coaches/players wanted. So this isn't going away anytime soon. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25149345/adam-silver-nba-rule-changes-boosting-offense-intended Commissioner Adam Silver said Thursday he believes the league's new rules that have led to more offense are going well.
Yeah, boring as crap to watch, but we have always been a much better offensive team than defensive team. We may net a bigger advantage than other teams because of this rule change.
This all is revealing what I would be after in a trade. A guy who is athletic and can defend 3-4-5 in the current NBA. Aminu doesn't have the smarts to actually be as versatile on defense as Terry thinks he is. A PJ Tucker type would be perfect. I'm torn about someone like Vonleh-- he had his shot here. Damn shame about Harkless. Makes you wonder if Layman should play more.
If there was an S2 back in 1993-99, you would have all been bitchin about how the games are horrible because nobody can score. Oh those 78-79 game were SO fun to watch huh?
Youre a few decades off the only time scoring was that low was in the 50’s. https://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_stats.html Points arent at all time high, but there sure is very little defense going on.
Yeah, I think I prefer the era when a defender could be a defender. The late 80 Blazers were a fun team and the league was physical and also exciting.
Do you ever criticize the league ON ANYTHING?! I realize the NBA is your workplace but it would be nice to get some objectivity from the ONE GUY on this board who sees pro basketball, in all of it's glory and excesses, on a day to day basis. Or is that why you shit on baseball all the time? It's your recepticle for all the negativity of sports entertainment. Here, give me a list of five league problems AND THE REASONS WHY the NBA could improve upon them. JUST FIVE. I swear to all that's holy, you come up with FIVE MAJOR ISSUES the NBA does not address, I won't say a negative thing about you for an entire month. But I know deep down in your heart you can't dare criticize the NBA. You don't have it in you.... It's impossible that you bring the same critical logic to basketball that you do to baseball.
Wow, a whole month! Shit, I often go twice that long forgetting that @HCP even exists. And I'm not even trying. It just happens naturally. BNM
TWO MONTHS! And don't derail the subject! HCP has to describe FIVE NEGATIVE THINGS about the sports he loves. FIVE UNAVOIDABLE REALITIES the NBA must face. He has to use the same lens that trashes baseball and focus it on basketball. And they can't be stupid shit like catering or uncomfortable air travel. I WANT FIVE THINGS THAT PISS HIM OFF!
I don't know if I can come up with 5 things that upset me about the NBA... Flopping Traveling Superstar calls Moving screens Super Teams Honestly though, those first four could all just be grouped together as "officiating", and then I only have two.
I think the average score of 100ish was about right. Officiating (mainly inconsistancy), Super teams that arent the Blazers, The Lakers, The Rockets, Doc Rivers, The fake tough guy lets chest bump each other “fights”, Draymond Green. AAU Culture (not the NBA but its problems spread towards the NBA all the time).
I'll give it a shot? 1. they have women referee's 2. The defense cant play like men 3. Not enough Jewish coaches 4. To many bow ties being worn 5. No NBA player should be allow to wear a TShirt under sleevless to. No more filling the sleeves!
