Now that Boogie is injured and out for the year, do the Pels deal him? What's the trade value of a severely injured superstar heading into unrestricted free agency?
He becomes one of the biggest expiring deals in the league, and that’s it. Which still holds a lot of value.
I would assume a team that simply wants to shed salary. Though I doubt the Pels would just be okay with taking back a bad contract. It’s not like they’re the Nets.
I think the likelyhood of htem trading him goes down because now they might get him to resign regardless because other teams will be scared to offer him a max with that kind of injury.
The bigger question is, with Cousins injury, and Pelicans playoff hopes over, is Anthony Davis now on the trade block? Would a package of CJ, Collins and draft picks get it done? Pelicans have to rebuild, makes no sense to hang on to Davis.
False, where'd you get this notion from? If you're thinking about the Poison Pill Provision, where a player has signed an extension that hasn't taken place, that doesn't make him untraceable, just hard to trade. The team trading for him gets incoming salary at the set amount for the first year of his new extension, while the team sending him out is only sending outgoing salary at the amount the player is making at the present time, thus making it hard to match salaries. However, CJ is in the first year of his new extension so that doesn't apply.
well I'm mistaken then but I read it in a trade discussion somewhere....1st year contracts like his rarely get traded...I thought they couldn't ....Meyers couldn't be traded until Jan 15th or something...I don't keep up with this stuff...see if I can find that article...if I'm not mistaken it was July 25th they said before he could be moved
We can trade CJ, just like Thunder could trade Oladipo who had the same contract situation. There is absolutely zero chance you can get Anthony Davis for CJ though. If Davis is even mildly available, he is going to Boston who can put up by far the best package.
No, he can be traded. Meyers couldn't be traded till Jan. 15th of last year because he's just signed a contract that previous off-season.
Knicks get: Evan Turner Maurice Harkless Meyers Leonard Noah Vonleh Blazers get: Courtney Lee Kyle O'Quinn Willy Hernangomez Joakim Noah Waive and stretch Noah Then use the trade exception to snag Tyreke Evans from the Grizzlies
You're insane. Phil Jackson is no longer part of the Knicks. No way they take all our bad contracts just to get rid of Noah.
I’d love to get Hernangomez somehow. Vonleh and Moe for Thomas and Hernangomez? They can throw in Baker to make it work financially. Seems like Hernangomez has more value than that but there must be a reason he isn’t playing for the Knicks.
We're not going to be able to dump all those players on one team...it's going to have to be spread around...
What about CJ and Nurk for Middleton, Parker and a 1st rd pick trade? Milwaukee is in the market for a big man, needs scoring, already has enough young players, and is reportedly not too interested in resigning Parker long term this offseason. Then you go and make a deal for Hood in a package built around Napier. I’m in the camp of Collins is our COF, Middleton is a better overall player compared to CJ, and Jabari Parker is an all star level player when healthy. There’s obvious risk involved but I think this team has the ability to contend if things go well. Plus we would have two first rd picks to either use or help facilitate trades. Dame/Draft pick Hood/Connaughton Middleton/ET/Aminu/Harkless Parker/Aminu/Swanigan Collins/Davis/Draft pick/Leonard Look at the shooting and switch ability 2-5.
