I've also been considering that the team needs to plan further ahead as far as being a really good team. I first thought of this because I felt like we needed to trade CJ but I couldn't really find any SF's who were available and good enough. Maybe that will change in the future. Although I was thinking of trading Nurk and Napier right now while they still have value. Under your plan, I guess we would make these trades and then sign these guys, taking us even further (hugely) over the cap?
Yeah, re-sign Nurkic for sure. Napier, Connaughton, and Vonleh it just kind of depends on if they are willing to take two year deals or if they are longer it would have to be really cheap. Davis I'd put in the same category. There would likely be some issues with not enough roster spots for everyone but that is where smart trades would have to be part of this too.
If they were willing to give up their pick unprotected then I think you definitely have to consider this one. It's currently 1st.
Yeah. The magic are dying for a guy like CJ to build around. They have a bunch of defensive minded role players but no one that can go and take over the game. Fournier is more of a role player as well. His numbers took a nose dive once Vucevic got hurt. I think they’d definitely want CJ. Problem is I doubt Olshey would even consider it. He’d trade everyone else. He’s going down with that ship.
