Personally, I would rather listen to you than to the "Cronin is a genius" gaslighting jerk-offs.

Powell played hard. Could shoot, slash,at least tried defensively on a team that was awful defensively.

Billups' participation in this presser and how Cronin acknowledged his input shows further that he has much stronger influence on personnel decisions than Stotts had.
Another thing I was thinking about is how in the past Olshey always talked about "culture". But what did that mean? I think we now have a clearer idea of what kind of culture Billups wants; guys who compete all out, guys who will play the type of ball he wants them to play, and guys who play defense, especially within the team defense concept.

Agree it's quite disconcerting him talking about wanting to keep Ingles and wanting to make CJ happy. (Although I have thought for two years that New Orleans is the place that needed CJ the most, so I don't know if that was BS or not)

You don't think the line about working with and communicating with one of your big money players when it was time for him to move on wasn't intended for future free agent courtships?

I like all speculation what's going to happen now and the future. Who ever on this team I will support them it doesn't matter if there not good or is a star. Makes me laugh when guys there smartest people in the room has a normal job or job while these guys that don't meet the expectations making millions.

Maybe, but I wonder how much weight a prospective FA would give it?

Probably very little. I think the majority of what is said at press conferences like this is posturing to some degree. You never hear a GM come out and say "we were so excited to get rid of (x)" or "the guy we got wasn't our first choice, but this was the best we could get." Cronin might've be slightly more honest than most, but like the coaches post game press conferences, their answers are very calculated.

When you say substantially better do you mean from the Dame/CJ era or from this nonsense that we've seen this season?

I would say substantially better than last season. If we aren't legitimately in the conversation of winning it all. It's probably time to ask Dame how he's feeling about things.

Does he want to take a pay cut to win a title?

I don't think they are counting on top tier free agents. Cronin made that pretty clear.

Yeah you got to figure Billups has at least a three year leash to get a team playing his way. You also got to figure at least a couple years to get him players that work in that system.
You have to admit his system is much different that what Stotts was doing and i would say Billups simply was not able to get much out of what he had.

He’s probably got that leash unless Cronin is replaced by a new GM who wants a different coach.

Really frankly, for a team claiming to be rebuilding around Dame we have quite a bit less than we did last week. We only got one first and if it's for this draft it's iffy if it will help a Dame led team, if it's the Bucks 2025 first then it has little to no chance in helping Dame. Johnson looks so far away that he doesn't look like he'll be contributing wins in the playoffs during Dame's prime. Hart is the only piece that for sure could help Dame but there's a great chance that we won't pick up the option on his contract to create more cap space and Dame never takes the floor with him.

So, even though they weren't good fits with Dame... CJ, Norm, Larry, RoCo, Ant, Little and Nurk brought more wins to the table than what we're currently seeing. If this is for a youth rebuild... we still don't have as much as we had last week. We should have gotten two more firsts than we did out of these deals if we were going to go with this very obscure plan of clearing cap space.

I hope they give him enough time to make the team his. I would hate to wonder if he would have been better with more experience. I also would hate seeing him go to another team and do well if they never gave him a chance here.

Curious if our play was to get Simmons by cap relief and 1st rounders so Philly could sign Harden in the off season but then the Philly Brooklyn deal went through so fall back was Grant trade and once they asked for two first rounders we backed out. Now we have to hope a team wants to blow it up after a poor post season. I said it earlier there are some teams like Lakers and even Boston who might decide to change things after the season. Players like Brown, Davis might become available
