Sure there is. Studs, electrical wire, cast plumbing. All kinds of stuff to reuse or recycle. If the house was pre-77, then I hope you had the flooring and drywall mud tested for asbestos. There was zero reason to make this deal a week before the deadline. Make it an hour before the deadline if something better doesn't come along. You don't pick up the ugliest girl in the bar at happy hour. You wait until closing time if nothing better comes along or just pass if the girl is uglier than your hand.
Bad analogy since they Blazers still seem to want to live in this house - they just wanted to remove the parts that did not work. Also, let's remember that selling a house and finding replacement houses is not without cost either - which is the time you need to invest in both.
Unprotecting our pick next year so that we could trade future 1sts when there's a good chance this rebuild could take multiple years by Cronin's own admission? That's not a really bad idea. Trading Simons makes sense if we only get a star, and I don't think we're going to get one for him by trading him outright. We need multiple high-caliber starters and right now we only have one, and possibly two with Ant. Trading Ant doesn't fix that problem.
Of course, but you should make it easier and sell the house for what it's worth instead of settling for half it's market value then claiming that now you have the freedom to go get the house you want.
I am talking about the demo of our bathroom - you are talking about a complete demo of a house. There is nothing worth saving from what we demoed from our bathroom - it does not mean that we do not love our house and want to keep it. But, I think we are going in circles here. The Blazers have a plan and are making some sacrifices to try and execute it. I have less issues with every step - you are not and that's fine.
We'll just have to wait and see how the two/possibly one lottery pick(s) turn out. Those will be our best assets. Because he's a restricted free agent Ant has more value in a sign and trade than an unrestricted free agent. I don't think we can gauge Ant's value or Johnson's, both will be playing a lot and may increase their value by a lot but when you say shit like none of them could bring back a starter like it's a fact, discounting all of the time between now and when those trades would be made, you kill your credibility. Also I think we can trade more than one of them in a package to get a higher quality player. Your misgivings about Cronin's ability to actually execute any deal where we come out even or ahead is well founded but you're taking it so far that you're being hyperbolic.
you could have 1 million viewers, your take on his press conference is still shit. I’d rather my GM not sell me a dream (best roster ever!)
Such a supportive community we’ve got here. I turned it on and gave it a like, just cuz, blazers fans.
But the Blazers did not sell the house for less than what it is worth. They just ripped off the bathroom that was leaking and costing them too much money to keep functional. In the meantime - they have to live with only 2 bathrooms instead of 3 - while the main one is being rebuilt to hopefully a much higher standard. (BTW, the home-remodeling thread in the OT section shows that this is exactly what we are doing with out bathroom now - and I do not like living with less bathrooms and workers treading through the house and the noise of the jackhammers - but I am ok with it - because I believe it will become a better house once all that noise and pain is done with.
as somebody who spent 40 years as a contractor including lots of remodels I think I should contribute to the extended metaphor about remodeling. But I got nothing
You are talking in circles. You asked if we could include future firsts, the answer is "of course we can." I never said we should do it, and it would entirely depend on what's being offered, but they certainly can be available if we need them to be. And in saying that we need "multiple high-caliber starters" to trade for a star, are you suggesting that you think us having Norm, RoCo, and CJ around would facilitate us trading for a star? Or that somehow they would have been able to get us back these "high-caliber players" that would be useful in a trade for a star? I guess if that's where you are coming from, there is not much more to discuss.
I found the Ingles comment interesting, especially if you put it into the context of how Billups wants to play, specifically defensively. Ingles is a very good team defender and is a good playmaker offensively, even this season with down numbers. Depending on the price and his health, that’s definitely a guy I’d be open minded to having.
im actually a trail blazers fan (before nurk got here), but its a happy coincidence that my countryman plays for my favorite team
