Right now, we CANNOT trade future 1sts. Trading future 1sts is completely dependent upon another trade or pick amendments. It's not a viable route. I'm not saying we could've traded those guys directly for a star, but if we could've gotten proper value back in the way of picks we could've consilated that value into similar caliber players (if not better) that balance the roster better. We couldn't get a forward that's the same level of play let as Norm for the value we got back for Norm AND RoCo. Where are we going make up for that gap in value?
My theory: They are going to try and add an impact player or two all the way up until all the free agents have signed. If they cannot get anything, they will trade Dame and start the rebuild. These moves give us the flexibility to possibly add some impact players one way or another down the line, but once all the dust settles on the major moves in the off-season, that will give a clearer picture to the team and to Dame whether or not it's worth continuing the relationship. If nothing materializes I think it will be a mutual decision to part ways.
Watching the PC now: Thank GOD that I didn't have to watch this live and had a breather during my meeting. Cronin looks so out of his depth as the head guy
Nope. I'm talking about the demo of a bathroom. This is the problem when you have no idea what you're talking about. A moron just takes a sledgehammer to a room. A craftsman knows how to remove the valuable parts and deconstruct a room neatly.
I have a pretty good idea of what was salvagable from our bathroom. My argument remains that you overvalued what the Blazers traded, but we can agree to disagree about that.
My guess is you don't. You think you do, but you don't understand how to extract maximum value from a renovation.
Oh, I can assure you that my work is much more lucrative than trying to extract every penny from the old junk in our 70s bathroom. I am 100% certain that it was not worth my time (or my wife's) to do so - which is exactly what I suspect the Blazers seemed to do in this scenario with these trades. I have no problems leaving 20 cents of value if it allows me to earn a dollar. This has been my entire argument the whole time - I am not that worried about extracting every cent from every transaction. It might have some value for some, but it costs me more to try and extract it.
What's a conceivable path that could make us better over the next two years as a result of this year's trade deadline?
I really think some people enjoy the hoopla leading up to deadline and draft and being analytical, more so than watching and enjoy the game & league.
Apparently our fans will overrate our players right until they're off the team and then they're worthless bums.
They told you what they are trying to do - rebalance the roster. By having cap space, draft capital and short term contracts they have tools they can try to do that. If they succeed or if they become a contender - I have no way of knowing - nor do they. But at least they have some tools to do so now - and they did not before.
