While*Yankees*manager Joe Girardi is rumored to be their favorite, theChicago Cubs*have already started interviewing other managerial candidates. Among their first interviews: former*Cleveland Indians*manager and ESPN analyst Manny Acta according to a report from David Kaplan of CSN Chicago.Acta is considered to be a very bright baseball man, but his lack of success with two different teams has to be considered a major stumbling block to him eventually getting the Cubs' job after the public pursuit of the high-profile Girardi has raised the fan base’s hopes for a major hire. Acta has a 372-518 record between his time in Cleveland and Washington.Acta has a 372-518 record between his time managing the Indians and the*Washington Nationals. His lack of success at both of his managerial stops will likely be Acta's biggest block. The Cubs have already met with former*Diamondbacks*manager A.J. Hinch. Among the other candidates for the Cubs managerial opening arePadres*bench coach Rick Renteria. Cubs president Theo Epstein and GM Jed Hoyer are expected to look at a wide range of candidates if Girardi decides to re-sign in New York."The Cubs have a fairly long list of potential candidates and they have to handle it that way if the Girardi thing doesn’t happen," a scout told CSN Chicago.
