Well I haven't seen any other confirmation besides the article Swish posted. I'm starting to get skeptical as well, the New York Post is known for some bs rumors at times so everybody keep that in mind.
It looks like you guys were right. It was just a rumor. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Philadelphia Daily News - The 76ers remain in limbo with restricted free-agent center Samuel Dalembert, but it isn't because of a lack of effort. Sixers president and general manager Billy King was in New York on Wednesday night for NBA business and also met with Dalembert's agent, Marc Cornstein. "Nothing new to report," King responded last night in an e-mail. Asked if the sides would meet before Monday, when Dalembert is scheduled to visit the Atlanta Hawks , King replied: "Who knows?" According to sources, the Sixers realize that they would have to go higher than the six-year, $36 million deal that Milwaukee center Dan Gadzuric agreed to on July 12.</div> Source
Ok, Sports Illustrated just reported it so it is pretty much official. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Sports Illustrated - The Philadelphia 76ers agreed to a six-year contract late Saturday with restricted free agent center Samuel Dalembert, his agent Marc Cornstein told SI.com. Salary figures were not immediately available. Dalembert had been scheduled to interview Monday with the Atlanta Hawks , who possessed enough cap space to make him a maximum offer. With this agreement, the 76ers have made good on their promise to re-sign free agents Dalembert, Willie Green and Kyle Korver. They also now have one of the highest payrolls in the NBA.</div> Source
Man, I'm pretty happy about this, but the only problem is that lingering phrase in the article- one of the highest payrolls in the NBA. Most of this is because of Iverson and Webber but for some reason it just doesn't make me feel right. But, some of it has to do with retaining the three young guys. I for one didn't think that Green deserve that hefty of a contract- what if he turns out to produce the same stats like he has so far in his career? All those contracts are six year deals, so if even one of them don't live up to their potential, Philadelphia's pretty much screwed salary cap wise. Anyways, its probably just me. Resigning Dalembert is definitely a plus for Philadelphia though. When given the minutes, Sammy has shown that he rises up to the challenge and delivers through rebounds, points, and blocks. He still has a lot of years ahead of him and he will only be getting better. Hopefully, he doesn't slack off because of this big contract and continues working hard to get better.
AznxBaller, sorry to tell you but the Sixers ARE pretty much screwed salary wise. I don't see much potential in Sammy or Green. I say keep a hold onto Iverson, Iguodala, and Korver because they are your franchise. As for Green and Sammy, I think you guys should have let him go and look for other players to fill the spot. Sammy needs to hit the gym BADLY and put on a lot of real muscle. But, this is just my opinion.
Dalembert has a ton of potential. He needs to put on muscle but he had a bad coach last year that didnt like him. Hes going to put up big numbers this year in big minutes because we have no depth behind him. THeres also hardly any big men in the East. We need to do something next year tho salary cap wise, because right now we still need more depth and are going to be screwed salary cap wise for awhile.

I am very happy to see Sammy D returning, but with the whole "highest payroll" thing, does this hurt our chances for the FA market?
No we still have the MLE and the LLE, which we should sign Steven Hunter for MLE, and Crawford Christian or resign Rogers with the LLE
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CMaTT:</div><div class="quote_post">No we still have the MLE and the LLE, which we should sign Steven Hunter for MLE, and Crawford Christian or resign Rogers with the LLE</div> i think we should use the MLE and LLE and try to get both reggie evans and stephen hunter.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">i think we should use the MLE and LLE and try to get both reggie evans and stephen hunter.</div> Fine but both these guys would have to sign at MLE, so it wont happen. I doubt either would accept LLE, especially Evans. He can get more from Seattle.
So....I've always thought does it REALLYL matter if we have one of the highest payroll in the league? I mean....as long as we're above the cap, we still only have the MLE right? I don't understand much about the business part of the NBA at all....anybody mind explaining? Thanks
